Gelvin's plan was almost perfect, she thought. Only she had not predicted the other four mares were more than they seemed. However, as they came out of the charm, their babbling speech was more sophisticated than that of a normal Witch's Pony.
On the other hand, they had clearly been hit hard by the amnesia. Did Gelvin's fertility spell exacerbate it, or was it something else, maybe from the breeding farm? Maybe it was a random combination of things.
Whatever the case, when she tried to question them about their origins or their relationship to each other, they came up blank. They did not even recall being human!
"There was danger," Saffron mumbled, shaking her head. "Bad humans. Rebels. But then, there were stallions, and they felt so, so good."
"Mm, yes," Citrine cooed. "I liked the stallions. They bred me over and over."
"Me, too," Nightingale spoke up. "But they are gone now. Where are they? Where is the farm?"
"I only remember something about needing to reach Winds Grove," Iris said. "And then I was imprisoned on a breeding farm."
"Yes, I seem to remember something like that, too," Glory agreed. "So, were we all traveling together?"
Gelvin sighed. Oh well, no reason to change her story. The only important thing was to get herself and Glory to Wind's Grove and let the others find their way from there. Quickly, she answered Glory's question.
"Yes, Glory. You were traveling with Iris, myself, and, um, Aurora." She made up a name for Thunder that she thought sounded a bit more appropriate. Thunder, now Aurora, simply took it in stride.
She went on to describe how the four of them had been going to Wind's Grove to get help when they were captured by the breeding farm. That was where they met Saffron, Citrine, Nightingale, and Rain. Soon, they all escaped together and were continuing on to Wind's Grove.
The others were perplexed, but they accepted the story readily enough. Though, Rain seemed a bit miffed at being separated from Gelvin, even in fiction.
Gelvin mentally apologized to her and promised himself to find a way to keep her and Aurora once this was over. And maybe a few of the others, if their memories did not return. Glory was the only important one, after all, right?
Thus, all obstacles were removed. Or so Gelvin thought.
