Ty laid on his bed, looking up at the canopy over his new bed. At this point, he would have probably been halfway done with mowing the lawn. Well, before Mark found some new spot that he hadn't done correctly, of course.
As he sighed once more, his phone began ringing. He grabbed it and looked at the caller ID on his shitty "Feature Phone", which was just smart enough to let June track his exact position, but not actually smart enough to be called a proper smartphone. It was Carlos.
His 'best friend', mostly because the guy was his only friend. Not to say they weren't good friends- but still. They were both the nerdy 'weird' kids at school, not in any other cliques, and they shared similar interests. He accepted the call, and Carlos' nerdy, nasally voice came through the shitty speaker. "Happy birthday Ty," he said, "I-I got you the- that game we were talking about, you know?"
"Yeah," Ty said, rubbing the back of his neck, "My birthday was yesterday."
A pause. "What?"
"Yeah..."
Carlos sniffed into the mic, and said, "Oh, I'm sorry- I, I thought today..."
"It's no big deal," he said. He had already accepted that no one cared about his birthday. At least Carlos was acknowledging it. "I'll see if Mark and June 'll let me come over," he lied, "Then... maybe we could play some couch-coop?"
"Yeah! Yeah, that'd be great-" he started, before Carlos's mom's voice spoke through the tinny speaker. "N-no mom, I'm calling Ty- yes, my friend- yes- he said he'd ask his- yes, I'm sure he's going to ask- no, you don't need to call- mooooommmmmm."
"I'll leave you to it," he said, hanging up. He hoped the shitty screen wouldn't... black... out...
He sat up, remembering his powers. "I wish that one of the rooms in my mansion had a full entertainment suite, including any video game consoles ever released."
He sat up and walked out of the room, trusting his feet to take him there. He opened the door and his eyes widened. The entire room was centred around a massive TV screen, about 16 feet long by 9 feet tall. Luxurious leather couches encircled a large redwood table, RGB lights rotating slowly through them. Despite the floor-to-ceiling windows letting the sun shine right onto it, the screen was completely dark.
Behind the couch was a full bar, including soda guns and an almost silent ice machine. Next to it was a full battle station, with one of those wrap-around screens and a bucket seat. On both sides of the TV was a full MOCAP VR setup, with the cables hidden in the wall. On the walls between the MOCAP and the TV was an army of consoles, from an Atari to a PS5.
"Woah..." Ty breathed, taking in the room. "This is awesome."
He paused, and sat down on his new couch. Despite being in full sunlight, he didn't have to squint to see, neither was the sofa burning hot. "I wish Carlos was in this room with me, and that his mother wouldn't freak out about it."
Carlos blinked into existence, caught mid... dishwashing? At least, that's what he looked like- his omnipresent button-up shirt was covered by a white "Live-Laugh-Love" apron that was a few dozen sizes too large for him, and he was holding a still-wet sponge.
Carlos looked around. "T-ty?"
Ty nodded. "Yeah?"
"W-where are we?"
Ty smirked. "My mansion." He explained the events of Saturday to his best friend, and showed off slightly by wishing the apron and sponge away.
"T-that's so cool!!!" Carlos said, after a while. "What else can you do with that???"
"Anything, really," he said.
Carlos fell back onto the couch, and looked up at the ceiling. "Promise you won't laugh?" he asked in a small voice.
Ty raised an eyebrow, but he replied, "I promise."
"... you know how we talked about our 'dream girlfriends?" he asked. Ty nodded. "C-could you... turn me into Orisie?"
Ty's eyebrows rose even further. "Are you sure?"
Carlos nodded, his face red. "S-slowly, if possible."
Ty shrugged. "Alright. I wish that you slowly transformed into Orisie," he said. With every word he spoke, Carlos got more excited.
