Gloria and friends: A fiery end

added by O 13 days ago I O Robot Ghost

Caleb sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Now he knew why his father so often looked exhausted after work. Making his way to the rear of his jeep, the young hunter now threw open the back as he rummaged for supplies. "What are you doing," Gloria asked.

"Finishing this," Caleb replied as he withdrew a pistol and several other supplies. "You can't be serious dude," Adam exclaimed. "We barely got out of there with our lives!" Caleb said nothing, adjusting his stetson, only for Gloria to grab him by the arm. "Adam's right," she said. "You shouldn't do this alone. Besides, I don't think they can follow."

"You're right they can't," he replied. "Those things are confined to the building but, it's only a matter of time before someone else stumbles on this place. They might not be as lucky as us. This is what Morelands have done for centuries, exorcise demons, banish ghosts, and keep humanity safe." Gloria bit her lip, her grip tightening on his arm. "But you might get hurt. Let me help you!"

Caleb smiled, running a hand along Gloria's cheek. He now understood what his father said about finding 'The One'. Calebs mother was always concerned for his father, very much the same way Gloria was for him. They wanted to help, to make sure nothing happened to them. In the end though, this was what he had trained his entire life for. Hopefully Gloria, like his own mother before her, would understand that he needed to do this himself. "Glo," he said softly. "I know you're scared I'm going to get hurt. Hell, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared too. The thing is, this what I was meant to do, like how you were meant for magic. I'd never interfere in your magic and I have to ask you to let me do this. Please, trust me."

Gloria bit her lip, every fiber of her being told her to go with Caleb. She had magic, she could stop these things yet something told her to stand down. She needed to trust Caleb in this, even if it was without her. Nodding, she simply placed a kiss on his cheek before wishing him luck. "You two," Caleb stated, looking towards the two soldiers. "Take this." Tossing the pair of soldiers a small bag, they now opened it, their jaws dropping as they beheld several gold coins. "It's not much but it should allow you to start fresh."

"Why are you doing this," Duffy asked. "Because hunters don't kill those wanting a fresh start. You want out of the Normal, that will get you out of here with the baby to start over. I ever see you too working for the Normal again though and all bets are off. We clear?" The two soldiers nodded, quickly walking in the opposite direction as Caleb once more turned to the building. "Are you sure you about this," Adam asked again. "I mean, don't you need more weapons?"

"This in a Model 1911," Caleb stated, holding the pistol up. "Do you know the story behind this gun? They tested it on cattle. This thing is rated to drop a cow and I have nine bullets in it tipped with silver and holy water. I've seen this gun down a Sasquatch, those things don't have much of a chance." Adam simply gawked, nodding as Caleb grabbed a gas can before making his way towards the building.

Entering the building through the broken window, Caleb noted the body of Mitzi. The animatronic mouse maybe be down for now, but Caleb knew it would only be a matter of time before it got back up. Opening a bag, the young hunter now sprinkled salt and holy water upon the rusting creature, muttering an ancient Latin prayer as he did. Like clockwork the animatronic convulsed on the floor before stopping. Whatever creature possessed it's rotting frame was gone now.

Slowly making his way from room to room, Caleb performed the same ritual upon the other fallen animatronics. Like Mitzi, they too convulsed before going silent forever. Still, the last one Billy Bob Brocal was missing. The sound of a bass guitar now drew Caleb's attention as he looked towards the stage.

Billy Bob sat there, his yellow and red overalls tattered and faded with his brown fur appearing dirty and thread bare. The animatronics dull eyed locked on Caleb. "You sent my friends away," Billy Bob said sadly. "That wasn't very nice."

"I suppose it wasn't," the young hunter replied. Billy Bob simply stared at Caleb, continuing to pluck the strings of his bass as his dull eyes seemed to burn into Caleb. "I'm going to enjoy repainting the walls with your insides," Billy Bob gaffawed. "Arts and crafts can be so much fun!"

Caleb leveled his weapon as the demonic animatronic lept at him. Despite Billy Bob's size, it moved at supernatural speeds. Caleb though was ready, steadying himself as he unloaded the 1911 into the animatronic. Massive holes were carved into Billy Bob, the rounds punching softball sized holes in it's chassis. A shot severed Billy Bob's arm at the shoulder, another sheared off his leg at the knee. The final round caught Billy Bob in the eye, the entire left side of his head blown open like a ripe melon. As the creature collapsed, Caleb reloaded before slowly approaching the damaged animatronic.

Billy Bob lay twitching on the ground, his face twisted in rage as it glared up at him with its one remaining eye. "You may have won today but you know we'll come back," it said. "There's always a sequel Caleb Moreland."

"Yeah I've heard," Caleb replied, withdrawing salt and holy water from his bag. "And I'll be waiting."

Pouring the salt and holy water on the damaged animatronic, Caleb watched as the husk of Billy Bob began to seize. An unholy scream now escaped its mouth, part demon, part mechanical before falling silent. Taking a breath, Caleb now went to work, dousing the building in gasoline before lighting a match.

Gloria and the others watched as Caleb exited the ruins of the pizzeria. Already thick black smoke could be seen rising into the sky. The fire would draw attention and none of them wished to answer any questions. Piling into Caleb's jeep, the young coeds now drove away, watching as the flames erupted through the ceiling and consuming the remains of Showbiz Pizza Place.
