"Let's go on the train," Leah says. Rita beams.
"Good choice! You're going to love it!"
Luckily, the train is nearby, so they don't have to walk far. The short distance they do walk thoroughly tires Leah out. She has little legs to begin with, and waddling around her diaper adds to the effort involved in walking. No wonder babies crawl so much.
They get on the train right away, thanks to Rita paying extra for the fast line option. Instead of Leah sitting next to Rita, however, Rita firmly places and holds Leah on her lap. Leah doesn't try to resist. This is more comfortable than the metal bench anyways.
The train starts. The conductor points things out around the park. Leah can feel her anxiety and distress over her accident earlier fading away. It really is fun! She turns her head to look out the other side of the train, and as she does, sees her best friend Tonya sitting in the car ahead, facing her. Tonya turns her head at the same time and catches sight of Leah. She frowns in confusion.
Leah begins to panic. Tonya doesn't think the toddler girl is Leah right now, but if she keeps looking, she will. She clearly sees something familiar about her already. Without thinking, Leah impulsively does the first thing that comes to mind to make her look like a toddler and get Tonya to stop watching her.
