Katie and friends discuss magic safety

added A month ago O Magic

Mary looked at her watch and seemed a little embarrassed to be late. Samantha noticed her friend's uneasiness and just shook her head smiling as Mary continued to roll in her chair beside her on the street.

"Relax, they don't mind if we're a little late getting there." Samantha said with a smile.

"Well, I feel a little embrassed. We just dropped Tricia off with Nat and Rei and they already had the triplets, as well as Morgan with them. So I feel a little embrassed that we're late getting over there." Mary said.

"I almost envy you, you only have to deal with Amara. I bet a teen girl is easier than a child to handle." Samantha sighed.

"No, you really shouldnt. You should count yourself lucky that Tricia is as old as she is, because trust me, taking care of a teenager is no easy task." Mary said.

The women had agreed to meet at a local cafe that many of them had gone to at different times in the past. It was a public place, so there wouldn't be any danger there if they went together. Katie and Kellie had been talking about this for a while now and they were happy they got to have a little free time for once in a while to discuss things. They were also happy to have Mika and Claudia with them, having gotten Rei and Nat to babysit for a little bit as well as have Morgan and Tricia there for a play date. Samantha and Mary Elise were also enjoying their time there once they finally arrived.

"It's so nice to finally have us all together again. I can't remember the last time we were all together....and it didn't involve anything....bad." Mary Elise said tip toeing around her words as Mika looked down from taking her drink.

"Before we begin, why don't we just say how things are with everyone?" Kellie suggested as the other women nodded in agreement. "Well, Morgan is our little angel still. But she has been wanting to practice more spells and we tell her: she must do it only if one of us is there." Kellie went on to say.

"Dear, she's a growing girl." Katie said patting her wife gently on the back.

"She's still in the single digit age. What if we're not there and she accidentally makes the lawn catch fire?" Kellie suggested as Katie's face grew grim knowing their daughter could do that by accident.

"Well, Mike and I are doing great. We were even thinking about....giving Tricia a little sibling." Samantha said with a smile.

"We don't recommend it." Mika and Claudia both said.

"Alright. Maybe I should get on to the matter at hand of why I decided we should get together today. So, I was thinking," Katie finally began to her friends. "We've had too many surprises in the past: vampires, demon hunters, magical assassins. Going forward, I believe we should make a spell that alerts us to supernatural threats that are coming our way so none of us....can get hurt...badly....again." Katie said trying to not say certain words around Mika who glared angrily at her friend.

"Are you trying to say so none of us will die...again?" Mika asked looking a little annoyed.

"I just...thought it might be a touchy subject for you all things considering." Katie said rubbing her neck.

"Touchy....a touchy subject? May I remind you that vampires attacked your house to get your daughter, Samantha and Mike's daughter was almost stolen or killed by an rogue demon hunter, and Mary is in a wheel chair now. So fuck it being a touchy subject anymore!" Claudia began getting angry at her friend. "I can tell you this: I know you all told me about it and how it happened. But since it didn't actually happen to my wife now, all I remember is how I heard my mother die and my son is traumatized by it. But from how Kellie described it, Mika went out trying to be a fighter, and instead some kitsune get a lucky shot at her." Claudia said angrily as she nearly stood up.

"Claudia...." Mika said trying to put a consoling hand on her wife's shoulder.

"Don't 'Cluadia' me. I have nothing now but the utmost respect for my mom, at least she went out fighting and trying to be a bad ass. It must have been really amazing to see." Claudia said remembering her mother as she stopped being angry and now became sad as she thought of her mom and began to cry.

"Hey, come on now, don't cry. You're going to make me cry, how do you think I feel? I lost my mom and now my mother in-law is gone as well. The kids are sad, especially Aaron. We've been trying to make him feel better, but the memories are still a little jarring for him." Mika said trying not to cry.

"I can't blame him. He saw his own mother get stabbed and die out like a light, while Marjorie, brave, strong, resilient, Marjorie tried her damnedest to fight back against that kitsune bitch." Mika said remembering the last moments of her mother in-law.

"Regardless, we need to have a....protective warning spell placed on us alerting us to any supernatural harm that might come our way." Kellie told her friends who looked at each other.

"So, why didn't we do this years before?" Mary Elise asked the question on the rest of her friend's minds.

"Well....honestly, we thought were doing pretty well before, all things considered." Kellie replied with a shrug.

"Bullshit." Mika, Claudia, Mary, and Samantha all said together.

"Okay....well, anyway, Katie and I have been talking about this for a while now and we believe this is the best thing to do for all of us. At least this way, we'll know if whoever has been after us is near. Now we all need to hold hands together so Katie and I can transfer the spell to you all." Kellie said as they all held their hands together as Katie and Kellie started the spell.

"Alright. Now that the spell is active with each of us, if there is danger near us now, we'll know about it before anything serious happens." Katie said as her friends nodded.

"What about when Nat and Rei and their friends will be away at college? Who will protect the town then?" Mika asked concerned.

"Well, the Moreland family will try and do their best, as will a few of them who probably will want to stick around. There's also that new 'non-existent' government division, they're getting on top of things now. I even heard through the grapevine about a rescue that just took place. But really girls, what worries me isn't when attack, it's how long they'll wait." Katie explained her worry to the girls.
