Jessica warned, "You really think adding another personality is a good idea? I don't know, Jeff. It seems like you're just asking for trouble."
"Don't worry, Jessica. I'll be fine. Besides, I'm sure if I can handle you, then I can handle another." Jeff teased. "Alright, but don't come crying to me when things don't work out." Jessica said as Jeff confirmed the installation. Jeff felt a familiar buzz in his brain and a headache. The Chronivac beeped that the process was complete.
"Hello?" Jeff mentally probed the recesses of his mind not actually speaking. "Hi, Jeff. I'm Chance. It's nice to meet you. I specialize in helping people reach their fitness goals. I'm here to help you get in shape and stay healthy."
The voice in Jeff's head sounded fast and energetic. "It's good to meet you, too, Chance. I'm looking forward to working with you."
"Alright, let's get started. First off, what level do you want to play basketball? I can help you reach Olympic levels if you'd like."
Jeff thought for a moment. "That sounds good. I'll start off with a beginner's level and see how it goes from there." Chance responded happily "Perfect. Let's get started."
Jennifer spoke up from the back of his mind, "Jeff, are you sure you know what you're doing?" Jeff replied "I'll be fine, Jessica. Don't worry. I can handle it." Chance hearing the conversation asked, "Who's Jessica?"
Jeff started explaining, "She's a defferent personality that I installed the other day. She supposed to help me become a leader." Chance smirked as he mused, "It looks like you have a lot going on in your head. You should try and keep it organized. If you ever need any help with that, just let me know."
Jeff nodded, "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." Jeff spent the rest of the evening playing basketball with Chance taking control of Jeffs body to show him the moves. Jeff watched in awe as his body moved fluidly across the court, executing each shot perfectly. After a few hours of practice, Jeff was exhausted but feeling great. "That was amazing, Chance! Thanks for the help."
"No problem. Just remember to take care of yourself and stay hydrated." Chance said. "I will, thanks." Jeff said, and he took a drink of water as he went to his bedroom.
When Jeff lay in bed that night, he could feel both Jennifers and Chance's presence in the back of his mind. It was a strange but comforting sensation, knowing that he had so many people looking out for him. As Jeff was drifting off to sleep, Jennifer said, "Goodnight, Jeff. Sweet dreams."
Chance echoed her, "Yeah, goodnight. Don't let the bed bugs bite."
Jeff smiled, "Goodnight, both of you."
With that, Jeff closed his eyes and fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.
