Despite Aoloa’s initial embarrassment, she quickly found herself having fun.
Despite being in the fae realm, many of the usual forms of entertainment from the human realm existed. It started simply enough, the pair heading to a movie theater to catch a show. Unfortunately for the teenage pair, their age limited them to PG-13. Laughing the couple ended up seeing an animated movie, giggling their way through the 90 minute showing. As they exited the theater, Aoloa found herself thoroughly enjoying herself. "That was a lot of fun," she smiled, adjusting the waist of her jeans. Funny, she could have sworn they fit properly when they arrived.
"Glad you had fun," Sarah said happily. "But that's only part one. Want to grab something to eat?" Aoloa nodded, she was hungry. "What do you have in mind?"
Sarah now grabbed Aoloa’s hand, sprinting down the street, weaving amongst the crowd, and laughing girlishly. Aoloa couldn't help but laugh as well, the pair dodging out of people's way, she was truly enjoying herself, yet one thing caught her attention. As they passed two women, Aoloa glanced back noting the women's sour look as she grumbled a response.
"Damn kids."
That caught Aoloa by surprise, she hadn't thought of herself as a child. Sure she looked far younger than she was supposed to but she wasn't a child. Was she?
As the pair entered a restaurant, Aoloa could hear a bell informing the cashier of someone's arrival. Glancing at the front desk, she noted Sarah decided on an ice cream parlor. The server now smiled, watching the two teens approach the counter. "How are we girls? What can I get you?"
Sarah rubbed her chin, fidgeting with her jeans as she tried to decide. "I'm thinking a chocolate milkshake," she said. "What about you, Aoloa?" Aoloa paused, glancing between the menu and Sarah. She couldn't be sure but Sarah looked different. Was her face rounder? Did she look skinnier? It was hard to tell, Sarah's clothing did seem a bit baggies, however, Aoloa also noticed her own clothes seemed loose. Still, if something was happening they would notice. "I think I'll have strawberry."
"Okay," the server smiled. "Why don't you two grab a seat. I'll call you when they're ready." Sarah and Aoloa nodded, making their way towards a booth as they began to talk. As they did both teens began to notice something odd. As they spoke, they found themselves slowly, but surely becoming shyer, their cheeks flushing nervously, the pair avoiding eye contact. It was odd but the closest thing both could compare it too was experiencing a first, awkward date. As the server called, Aoloa now offered to grab their milkshakes.
As Aoloa walked towards the counter, she paused, now her sneakers felt loose. Something was amiss yet she couldn't put her finger on it. Grabbing the drinks, her confusion only amplified, not only did her voice sound higher but the counter did as well. "What is going on," she thought. Turning back towards Sarah, she gasped as she stared at the girl.
Sarah was definitely younger, appearing no older than 12 now. The preteens face was round her body skinny, showing off only the slightest signs of puberty. Sarah gazed in horror at Aoloa as she shuffled towards her. "Aoloa, you got younger," she gasped.
"No you got younger," Aoloa countered. Both girls now quickly reached into their purses, pulling out their hand mirrors before gasping in shock. Staring back at them were a pair of 12 year old girls in I'll fitting clothing. Teendom was something to look forward to now as they touched their round, youthful faces in shock. As they turned to one another, they gulped. Sarah's spell wasn't over, they were still growing younger.
