Despite Fionna’s eagerness to indiscriminately devour every monster girl that crossed her path, her pragmatic side struck again. For one, other, more powerful monster girls still existed out there, and would likely be drawn to such a major disturbance. Her targeted assimilation strategy had worked so far, and throwing caution into the wind this early into her plan would probably undo all of her work.
Pondering this for a while, Fionna decided to go back to her lab to strategize further.
----------------------------
After reverting back to her normal human form in order to fit into the lab, (while keeping some of her other features) Fionna mulled over her current options.
She ruled out taking on a major metropolis because of the aforementioned stronger monster girls. She also ruled out anything in the enchanted forest that she had absorbed the kitsune in. She had already taken a big risk sending a single clone there, but she couldn’t fully counter magic spells yet (aside from using kitsune illusions and the dullahan’s scythe powers). While she was still nearly indestructible, especially after absorbing the hydra-taur, ‘nearly indestructible’ wasn’t enough.
Alternatively, she could go to the ocean. After all, the only ocean-related powers she had came from the octopus girl she had absorbed earlier. If she were to take the oceans, she could have a valuable fallback point if things went south. Also, the concentration of more powerful monster girls down there was far less than on the surface. Of course, this came with the possibility of gaining their attention as well.
She could also chance going to a more mountainous region - few creatures lived up there, aside from harpies and other bird hybrids. A possible downside could be how little resistance any of her forms had to the cold. She’d hate to have come this far only to die of frostbite. And that wasn't considering the other harsh weather and rough terrain that came with the territory.
She might try the desert, though. She could probably find something that would help her survive the scorching heat and scarce resources. Of course, this ran the risk of drying up before ever finding anyone.
Fionna considered plenty of other places, naturally, but these places all seemed to have a common drawback - she couldn’t possibly be able to properly gauge the strength of any monster girl she came across. Unfortunately, her intuition could only get her so far. That’s when she had it. She could make a power gauging device! With her immense brain power and technological prowess, she could probably whip something up within the next week or so. So, picking up some paper, she got to planning.
----------------------------
A little over a week later, Fionna was finished. She had spent the past week toiling over parts and code, eventually making an end product that locked somewhat akin to a simple smartwatch. The way it worked was that whenever Fionna saw a monster girl within a one mile radius, she could run a scan and then find all the information she would need to subdue and absorb them. Not only that, but it was impervious to most damage, even water!
It was a marvel of her genius, and she couldn’t wait to test it out. But then, where should she start?
