Within the tissue paper is an equally black velvet pouch. Intrigued, you pick up the pouch and reach inside, to feel a cool metallic chain. Curious, you pull it out. It's a solid but not overly large chain, silvery in colour. While you cannot tell if it's actual silver or something else, it flashes beautifully in the light.
Dangling at the end of the chain is a perfect cube of clear crystal. It is as limpid as glass or still water, though the light shining through it makes it seem to glow. It is so simple, yet so beautiful.
It's an impressive gift; the workmanship of chain and fitting and the cut of the crystal obvious to you, regardless of your knowledge of jewelry. And certainly expensive! Whoever sent this put some effort into it. And you feel a strong desire to put it on, and accept the invitation to the park.
