Jen felt so natural on the end of a leash it was almost frightening. Missie walked beside Jen, trying to mimic her behavior. Missie was clearly new at this. But Jen was more than willing to help her become a better dog. Jen allowed Missie to lean against her.
"This won't shock you Jen." Betty said, "Your sister Emily is the one who got free. She really is a bad dog isn't she?" Jen barked in agreement. She could have kept talking, but barking felt easier and better to do anyway. Plus she had to set a good example for the other girls like Missie. Missie would learn faster this way, as would Emily.
The two of them were lead to a room Jen recognized right away. She began to wag her rear end faster. Betty laughed, "I thought you might recognize the class room. Now Jen, I need your help. You're going to be my training dog, are you ready for that?" Jen barked in agreement, that was what she wanted.
The training room was a room with big windows and blue mats across the floor. A few other handlers stood with girls on leashes. One of them was Emily, who was struggling. She had a bigger collar, a shock collar. Every time she stood, it shocked her back down. Jen shook her head. Emily was stubborn.
Missie's leash was handed off to another handler, while Jen was lead to the front.
