Security guards Mitch and David had seen two people stuck in the elevator on the security camera, but by the time power was restored and the elevator opened to the lobby, the thing was empty.
"That's weird!" Mitch said, scratching his blond hair. "I know there were two guys on here. That big shot from the 30th floor, and some real fat guy." He ventured into the elevator to take a look around when a terrible, noxious odor surrounded him. "Jeez! Smells like rotten eggs in here!" He gagged.
David entered and covered his nose. "Yikes, smells like somebody had a bean burrito for lunch that didn't sit well."
The two security guards examined the elevator, thoroughly stumped. Didn't look like anybody had exited through the trap door in the ceiling. So where did those two guys go? "Someone left their pants here on the floor," Dave stooped down. "And this huge dirty shirt must have belonged to that big blimp of a guy."
"I didn't see any blimp. Are you sure you saw riIIIight?" Mitch asked David. He cleared his throat, wondering why his voice was cracking.
"I guess we could check the taAAApe. Man this really smells bad in here. Maybe we should deactive this elevator." He took a long look at Mitch. "Say man, something's haAAAapening to you."
"What do you mean?" Now Mitch's voice sounded distinctly different.
Already the two men were shrinking. Their security guard uniforms bunched up around them. They cried out in surprise, gripped the waistband of thier pants and examined thier hands and their youthening faces in the elevator mirror. The two guards watched helplessly as they regressed from grown men, to teenage kids, into helpless 12-year-old boys in a matter of moments.
The dad gas was dissipating but the damage was done. Where once had been two confident, grown men, now stood two confused boys swimming in oversized security guard uniforms.
