Aisha replied "Sure. Once we are stopped. You can tell me what you think it is made of"
5 minutes later James pulled up outside the block of units where Aisha lived. "Here we are. I'll see you at Chelsea's party on Saturday"
"Thanks for the ride James. You're a life saver. I hate having to catch public transport. The buses are always running late" Aisha took off her seat-belt and opened the door.
"Not so fast Aisha. You promised to show me your necklace"
"It's just something that caught my eye, but if you want to see it" Aisha removed the chain from around her neck and handed the necklace to James. "Ouch! Sorry about that! I must have picked up some static electricity"
"No problem" said James. He then examined the medallion "I think it's just brass, but it's an interesting design. It looks old"
"What about the stone? Could it be a ruby?"
"Could be. It's pretty small. What did you pay for it?"
Aisha was evasive, for some reason she had led James to believe she had bought the necklace, not just found it on the ground. "Not much. It was in the clearance section"
"Oh well, Sounds like a bargain even if you only wear it once" He handed the jewellery back to Aisha. This time there was no shock.
Aisha placed the chain over her head and climbed from the vehicle "Thanks again for the lift. I'll see you at the party"
"No problem" said James.
Aisha closed the car door and gave James a wave as he drove off before walking to the door of the unit complex. She was glad to be home.
James drove off, ruing that he had let another opportunity slip by. He had wanted to ask Aisha out but as usual didn't have the courage to do so. She was such a good looking girl and smart too. Maybe at the party he would have another opportunity?
