James gasped as he saw his reflection. It wasn’t his own. In the mirror was a stranger. A person of indeterminate sex. The persons hand went to its throat and sensed the lack of an Adam’s apple. That explained the high voice.
On second glance, parts of the stranger were recognisable. The eyes seemed to be James’s own but his carefully trimmed stubble was absent. His skin was smooth, as if he was 15 again, or, the thought made him wince, he was somehow turning into a woman.
Another look at his dainty hand made James decide to strip off. Something very strange was happening to his body. He wanted to see what was happening. Seeing was believing, but at the same time what appeared to be, was impossible. This could not be happening. He must be hallucinating.
