((Yo anon who's on this branch! I love that you've been adding on. Hope this doesn't step on your toes or tail. Hit me up on dA, same account name. Or is it so-x? One of those. I just wanna talk. Or leave your name so I can track you down? I had a bell idea too, but wasn't sure if I was gonna go that route. Also anyone else who has feedback, can go there too. I'm not active, but I'll login just for you guys. Also I do not possess the man poker irl, so sorry in advance if I get The D anatomy or sensations incorrect.
Also can anyone get an account on this site? I want the cool yellow Author's note box. Tried registering three diff times but it's not working.
P.S. Writing in second person is hard.
P.P.S. No idea if I'll add to this branch, feel free to take over, peace!]]
They had already been talking since John had crawled over, it somewhat easy to be on all fours.
"Wait so is he stuck?" You heard Jess ask.
"Well I know that particular costume doesn't have a zipper. It broke off when I was making it."
"Why did you put it on the floor then? Can't we replace zippers?"
"Not while it's still being worn. I figured- black cat, you're a blossoming young witch. You should have a familiar. I intentionally didn't fix the zipper on that costume so that whoever it chose would get to become, y'know... Your familiar. I didn't know John would pick it."
"Wait so you're just choosing my familiar for me then?" Your cousin asked stunned "Isn't he family?"
"Well he's mortal family..." Your Uncle John said with disdain. Your ears flattened in anger. "The thing is though. That costume isn't coming off. Not by any magic I know how to do. It's going to slowly change the wearer into a cat. I gave him that bell so he could keep his mind. It's not an "Illusion Bell" it's a Familiar Bell. If I didn't put it on, he'd just become a cat. Like a real cat. His brain would become an animal's. I figured the bell is the only way to salvage this. It'll let him keep his human intelligence, and he'll live a lot longer than a normal cat. He might lose his speech at first, but we can charm that back. Talking animal spells are basic, we just need to adjust for permanence. This way he'll live a lot longer than a normal cat. Without it, he'll probably die in like 10 years? This way he'll die when you do."
You couldn't see well from this angle, but you could see Uncle Jack hand over Jess a necklace with a golden ball at the end.
"This is the inside half of the bell. Wear it as a necklace to bind him to you."
So that clapper explanation was nonsense then...?
Your cousin Jess was uncertain but put it on.
"Isn't there any other option?" she asked in a guilty whisper.
"Not that I can think of at the moment, no. I mean you can try but, you don't want to kill the poor guy by using the wrong spell. What if a human potion screws up his organs or something? There's too many curses on him already."
"Wait so" Your cousin looked at the necklace she was now wearing "If it's not casting an illusion, won't that make it obvious that you're lying?"
"Oh it's fine I'll cast a spell on the shop. I'm just not sure how to work out the mirrors..." your Uncle Jack said looking around the room.
You decided now was a good time to slink back to the register.
Trying to remain calm. You couldn't let them know that you knew. You'd never escape that way. You were so angry, so upset. Was this the end of your humanity? Your friends back home? Your life? What was Uncle Jack's plan to tell your parents?
You were interrupted by a bundle of clothes flying at you over the counter.
It was your cousin and Uncle, back to face you.
You unfolded the bundle revealing a loose orange sweater and shorts that probably belonged to Jess.
"You need to hide your shame naked boy." She said seriously.
But your eyes were fixated on the golden necklace she now wore.
Your Uncle Jack said it would bind you together as witch and familiar, but ... what exactly did that mean...?
