"I think that's a good idea," a voice called out.
Turning, you saw your father walking toward the two of you. "Dad? When did you get here?"
"Hey, kiddo. I just got here a while ago, just in time to hear this conversation. Anyway, I think it's a good idea for you two to date."
"Dear, what about your human matters?" Christian asked. "I thought it would take all day to get things settled for your move."
Your father crossed his arms. "I postponed it all. I wasn't going to miss this for the world. Were you really planning to have the talk with our son without me?"
Christian dropped her gaze, looking abashed. "I'm sorry. Your business just seemed too important to interrupt. After living among humans for over three years, I'm still not familiar with certain aspects of your culture. Besides, Vinnie wasn't present to witness your own ascension."
"He was too young at the time. We agreed he couldn't handle it. This is different. I want to be here to support him."
While you felt touched at your father's sentiments, something your stepmother said stood out to you. "Wait, what do you mean my dad's ascension?"
Your father and his wife shared a glance and a small shrug. Then, to your shock, your father stripped off his clothing, making you turn away in embarrassment. It was bad enough with your stepmother, but this was too much. "No! Dad, please don't do that with me here!"
"It's alright, Vin," an unfamiliar feminine voice said softly as a brief flash lit up the clearing around you . "It's only an illusion. My body no longer looks like that. You can turn around, now."
Confused, you did so only to gape in amazement. There beside Christian stood another beautiful fairy like herself. Statuesque with long blue hair and a lovely face, she was the queen's equal in every way. This included her sheer gown that did little to conceal her perfect female body. From her back, shimmering butterfly wings quivered nervously. "D-Dad?" You gasped. "Is that really you!?"
She smiled apologetically and nodded. "Yep, it's me. And I guess I'm technically your mom now."
"And a Fairy Queen like myself," Christian added, taking her hand. "My wife, Queen Hydrangea of Moniqueer."
The blue-haired fairy blushed. "Still getting used to all that other royal stuff. And I've told you I like to be called Angie, didn't I, dear?"
"Of course, beloved," Christian replied. "But first introductions must have a bit of decorum."
"So, when did you become...this?" You gestured towards your fa- mother's body.
"About a couple years ago. It was hard not to be able to tell you, but we had to wait until you were mature enough to process the news."
This shook you to the core. Your father had been a blue-haired female fairy for two years, and you never noticed? Then again, who could've guessed? This was just too crazy!
Unaware of your thoughts, the two queens had continued their discussion.
"So, how long must we wait for our daughters to date?" Christian was asking her wife. "A year like we did?"
Your mom shook her head, causing her blue locks to shimmer. "We can't rush these things or restrict them to a set time. Don't worry, though. As we fairies can see, they are perfectly matched. I'm sure it won't take long."
Queen Chrysanthemum sighed. "Well, we will all have millennia together. I suppose a year or two is an acceptable delay."
"Mother!" Wellowyn blurted out, clearly not happy with this. "Must we truly cater to this tedious human tradition?"
"Yes," Christian answered firmly. "I did it, after all. It will not harm you to learn some patience."
The princess bit her lip, frowning. You had to admit, the expression still looked cute on her. "Very well, Mother. I will do as you say. But what am I to do, in the meantime? I expected to return to Moniqueer with my new love by tomorrow. Am I to go back and forth while we do this dating thing?"
The queens glanced at each other.
