Jeff had fond memories of Mrs Holden from when he was in elementary school. He enjoyed how she'd sometimes call him Jim, from Star Trek because his mind would space out and "boldly go where no mind has gone before". "Captain Kirk, Captain Kirk. Red Alert! I think someone's after your ship, Jim!", an elderly voice gently said. Jim snapped out of his thoughts and looked up to Mrs. Holden who had a goofy smile on her face. "I'm glad to see you've received my hail, Jim. You don't expect any disturbance in our frequency, do you? After all, I have a couple of solo missions for you." Jeff appreciated that Mrs Holden still tried to role play with him while trying to give him important life lessons and important messages and so he sheepishly smiled back to her. "Jeff, your principle noticed that there was a change in the computer system last night that has moved you from high school over to down here.", continued Mrs Holden. "What do you mean?", asked Jeff. Mrs Holden replyed, "Hear me out Jeff, you've been removed from your high school classes and enrolled down here in Miss Mae's first grade class. You, Jeff, are now a first grader. And if you don't pass first grade this year, you'll be a first grader next year instead of a second grader. But, Jeff, I'm hoping that you'll do well in Miss Mae's class so that you can avoid repeating it......for a third time. Don't worry, you haven't done anything wrong. Jeff, we've looked at the data from your high school. We suspect that you have slow processing speed, a developmental disability that slows down the speed at which you can absorb information. Technically speaking, Jeff, you're as smart as a freshman in college, but you can only think as fast as approximately a fifth grader. I'm sorry to give you this information, Jeff, but it plays in well with what we need from you here at the elementary school. Jeff, we're short staffed and we know that high school depresses you. We want to give you relief in return for getting some relief from you. Jim, your first mission is to infiltrate a first grade class, pretend to be a first grader, and convince the students in that class that you belong there. We want you to become friends with those students, become a positive role model for those students, and generally help those students with their school work without blowing your cover. Jim, your second mission is much simpler. We want you to exist in our school for a while to give comfort to your little sister. She's been doing horribly in the fourth grade to the point that we've had to move her to another class. We're currently teaching her anger management and social skills to help her acclimate to her new class. Jim, she's going to need your help here and at home to help her adjust. Jim, do you accept these two missions? Are you ready to infiltrate an alien world and trade peaceful knowledge with them?" Jeff was hesitant, but thought about things for a minute. He felt less like he had a choice and more like he was being pressured into it. He figured that if he didn't have a choice, he may as well go with the flow. After all, he was messing with the Chronivac last night to get out of going to high school, but he never had returning to first grade in mind. And so, after much thinking, his reply was simply, "Where do I sign up?" Mrs Holden stepped over to the door to let someone in. This new person was a young short Japanese woman who looked to be around twenty five. She wore a black jumper dress and a white full sleeved blouse that had frills on her cuffs and a peter pan collar.Jeff though the woman looked stunning in a conservative way with how her black hair was styled with a pony tail and how her black rimmed glasses framed her face and hugged her petite nose. Mrs Holden started again, " Jeff, let me introduce you to Mrs Mae Tajiri, but we only expect our students to call her Miss Mae due to the difficulty for our students to say her last name. Miss Mae's going take you down to your first grade class. In the mean time, I have other work to do, so I won't be able to join you. Oh, and Jim! Don't misbehave, Miss Mae can't give us any more power, she's given us all she's got. Seriously, Jeff, Miss Mae is relying on you for help. Don't disappoint me." Miss Mae then ushered Jeff out of the principle's office to make their journey down to first grade. He never got a chance to say good bye to Mrs Holden or thank her for the strange opportunity he was given.
