You look at the source of the noise and prepare to fight, thinking that one of the carnivores spotted your escape and followed you. You look but the only thing that comes out of the bushes is a squirrel an ordinary everyday squirrel.
You breath a sigh of relief but a masculine voice from behind you causes you to jump.
"You act as if you've never seen a squirrel before."
You are facing a large, around 8' man with silvery hair, lying on his back in a tree with his hands behind his head, looking up into the sky.
"Who are you?" You ask nervous but trying to keep your cool.
"Just call me Carn." He tells you without breaking his relaxed pose.
"Carn?" You ask, confused by the odd name.
"Well, I can't go by Terra because that's a girl's name and I've always had a grudge against people name Terry, never have known why."
You shift your conversation to a more serious issue.
"How were you able to approach me and climb that tree?" You ask him.
"I received the best abilities of all my contributors of course." He told you.
"Contributors?" You ask.
"Oh, I guess you don't know. I am one of the four animal warriors who created that book you read. I was given, by myself, all the abilities of the members of the land-based carnivore family, thus the name Carn, Herb received the abilities of all the members of the land-based herbivore family of course, Ariel has the seas, and Avana the air." He tells you.
"Wait! You created that book?" You say surprised somehow, though it would explain, at least according to your logic, why he's the only other human you've seen so far.
"Of course! I am the first and strongest member of the animal warriors, we are wizards gifted with immense power over the animal kingdom."
"What makes you the strongest?" You ask for no reason other than distinct interest.
"It just worked out that way." He tells you.
"So, what's going on?" You ask cutting to yet more important issues.
"Well you read a spell and turned the world into anthros and put in the by law that they all must have tails, thus eliminating primates, frogs, along with tadpoles even though they do have tails, etc."
"How did I do that?" You ask not remembering adding any words.
"Probably subconsciously." He tells you remaining non-chalant.
"So everyone but myself has been turned into an anthro?" You ask.
"Who said you were excluded?" He said jumping down from the tree to reveal one bright, yellow eye contrasting against a blue eye that appeared to be slitted.
"Wait but I haven't transformed." You say startled.
"Well as the script reader the book is giving you more time to adjust. The others can have their memories replaced but you have a claus by being the reader." He tells you
"But I don't want to be an anthro!" You say, having never gotten into the fad of human and animal transformations.
"Should have thought about that before you recited words that you couldn't understand." He says.
You look pale for a moment but decide that you are going to have to live with this.
"So, what am I going to transform into?" You ask.
"How am I supposed to know. I gave the books its own power to choose based on a factor of yourself. It's not like I decided it would be fun to mess with your life by making you your least favorite animal that fit into the range or, for that matter, even had the time. Do you think I have this power just to sit on my butt all day waiting for someone to pick up the book and recite a spell? Don't offend me!" He says, rather accusingly.
"Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it." You say more afraid of the man than apologetic. "So, how long do I have 'till it starts?"
"Hard to say. Could start in the next two hours and take up to 8 days, 8 painful days." He tells you.
"Wait it's going to be painful!" You say startled once again (Man, you're a wimp).
"Well, yeah, unless you can find a counterspell in that book." He tells you.
"Can't you help me?" You ask rather angrily.
"Hey, I already told you I'm a busy man. Though if you want to annoy people, I could always turn you into a gnat." He tells you, a slight sense of anger given off by his voice. "Well, see ya."
He disappears into the darkness and leaves you alone.
You feel a sharp pain in your stomach and bend over in complete agony. The changes must be starting you think to yourself.
