Mary was conflicted: she wanted Joe to get the help he needed after his accident, but she was also feeling more certain by the second that she could help him more quickly using the Vials than by calling an ambulance. Hearing what sounded like a low groan coming from her living room, she made up her mind and dumped the whole Healing vial into a glass. Hesitating for a second, she muttered "What the heck" and tipped half the strength vial in as well before topping the glass up with water.
"Here're those pills, Joe. Can you sit up to take them?" she spoke quietly, finding the stranger reclining sideways on her sofa with a slight grimace of pain marring his features. He lifted his torso, taking the Tylenol from her palm and popping it into his mouth before draining the glass in four gulps. Leaning back with a sigh, he mumbled a "Thank you." before trying to assure her he'd be ready to go in a moment.
Mary patted his hand "Don't worry about it, Joe. You just rest and get better. I'll go check on your car and the tow truck driver."
He heard the sound of the front door opening and closing softly, thankful that he seemed to have crashed into such a nice woman's yard. His pounding head wouldn't let him get a clear image of what had caused him to lose control, but he had impressions of something darting out into the street before... ... ... his temples throbbed, the pulsing seeming to spread down his neck and across his shoulders. Just as the pain reached a crescendo, a feeling of cool relief infused his skull, the sensation lifting the hair on his head and tingling downwards. He sighed, his muscles relaxing as the pounding disappeared and he sank back into the cushions, falling into a light sleep.
Unbeknownst to Joe, his body was still throbbing, but this time due to the potion Mary had given him. As the injury to his brain and spinal column healed, his neck muscles were thickening, rippling down over his shoulders and pumping up his biceps and pectorals. Thin, unused back muscles knit together and grew larger, strengthening his core and stretching around his torso to form defined abdominals and that pronounced V that leads to only one thing. His thighs thickened and his calves became more pronounced, and suddenly the skinny gamer now more closely resembled a lean, toned swimmer or soccer player, or someone who ran marathons for fun on the weekends.Even his skin and hair seemed to glow with an internal health he hadn't had before the accident.
The sound of the front door closing again roused Joe from his slumber, and he sat up to stretch, feeling better than he had in... well, ever!
"The tow truck driver said you gave him your address, and when I mentioned that you were resting and might be going to the hospital, he said he'd drop your car off at your house." Mary rounded the couch as Joe tilted his head first one way and then the other, eliciting audible *pops* from the cartilage in his neck. He blinked at her, his blue eyes clear and bright when only a few minutes ago he'd been suffering the effects of whiplash. He was sitting up straight and Mary could tell that his t-shirt was definitely straining a bit more across his torso - the sallow Joe that had entered her house was now the picture of health and vitality!
