The store owner, Mr Rusty, was quite elated at the sight of the two boys in front of him. Imagine his luck, two grown men arriving in the Daddy Dimension all for him to get custody of them! What luck! Normally seizing men from the other world was subjected to very strict rules and the waiting list was very, very long. Obviously these two kids had arrived through sheer bad luck - on their part - and suffered regression. Not that HE complained about it. Now, he just had to keep them from thinking too much about their past lives for their minds to fully submit to their new appearances. Grabbing and keeping their attention fixed on something was the best way.
"Hey, how about I show you some exclusive trading cards?" he sais with the best good humour he could bring out of him and hoping it would work.
It did. Both boys looked at each other but their eyes sparkled wildly with excitement. Wow! Exclusive products! How cool was that???
"What... What cards do you have?" said Mitch timidly.
"Oh, for you, I can show you the whole lot," he said enthusiastically. "Pokemon, Magic, Digimon,..."
That did the trick, at leat for Mitch. He looked at Rusty with eyes as wide as saucers, which was saying something considering the thickness of his glasses.
"Cool," whispered David.
"Let me go get them," said the store owner as he rummaged within a few boxes.
While his back was turned, David seized Mitch's hands and dragged him away.
"Mitch! Snap out of it! Scram!" he shouted.
Lucky for him, Mitch did come back to his senses. He blinked but followed suit, leaving a perplexed and then shouting Mr Rusty behind. They printed out of the store and into the mall. Alas, if they were faster than the daddies around them, the crowd got them separated as they scrambled to reach a safe place, bumping into very large men and escaping as well as they could. In these conditions, it was no surprise they ended up separated.
