Dylan strode up the beach, bobbing his head to the music after another successful wave, but decided it was time to get a few more drinks in him now that the party really seemed to be taking off. Propping his board in the sand he went over to grab a beer, popping it and taking a swig as he surveyed the crowd.
Something seemed.. off. He couldn't quite place it, like when he had a hard time grasping a concept in class, normally he went to Alec for that sort of thing, his nerdy friend always had the right answer. So his eyes instinctively scanned for him across the crowd and found him a short distance off sitting next to a semi-familiar redhead.
Kissing.
Dylan felt something rise up in his gut he had never really felt before, but there was no confusion with this feeling for him, he knew what it was right away. He knew Alec had a crush on him, he never acknowledged it so as not to lead the poor guy on. Dylan had no interest in guys, or at least he thought he didn't, even though he liked Alec as a friend, his best bud really, well, along with Vince. He'd have a hard time picking between the two.
As for the guy he was kissing, Dylan knew Jeremy from some run ins at the gym. He had even thought of introducing him to Alec thinking the two might hit it off, but seeing them together.. No, he did not like the sight of that ginger nut-muncher kissing his best bud. He felt something cold and wet splash over his hand and looked down to see beer pouring out the top of the can he crushed in his hand.
"Aww fuck.." He set the can aside and shook of his hand, then decided to try to suck some of the beer off of it so it didn't go completely to waste. Though at least he didn't cut himself with the can, he thought, as he spread out his fingers, eyeing the webbing between them. When he looked back up, Jeremy was gone and Alec was sitting alone. He knew the look on his friend's face, he was on the verge of a panic attack, and one thing that usually calmed him down was Dylan himself.
Well, time to be a hero.

Alec was about to freak out, when he felt something heavy drop down onto the sand next to him. He looked over, thinking maybe Jeremy had come back but instead found himself looking into Dylan's smiling face. And just like that, his nervousness popped like a soap bubble. What was he worried about?
Dylan was grinning wide enough to show off his sharp canines, though with him it looked more goofy than menacing, and his brown hair was slicked back and wet from the ocean, same with the brown fur across his chest, darkened and flattened from salt water, showing off those perfect rounded pectorals. Alec found himself almost salivating, having been teased by Jeremy and now with his truest obsession right in front of him it was hard to think. Dylan's mouth moved but Alec just stared. It took a moment for the words to pierce the fog around his brain.
"You okay, bud?"
Alec wondered at the question, then almost painfully tore his eyes away from Dylan's face, instead turning to look at the surfer's webbed feet. Much easier to focus on those... maybe not. He twitched his eyes again and looked out at the crowd, finding it suddenly easier to think. "Yeah.. no. Sorry. Something's wrong.."
"Jeremy?" Dylan asked. "He's harmless, a bit raunchy, but he's a good guy." Alec noted an odd tone in Dylan's voice, as if the admission was grudging at best.
"No. Not Jeremy, that was.. fine." Alec squinted at a guy with a rat tail, the real kind not the hairstyle, making out with a guy with cat ears off in the distance. There was something wrong with that, he knew it, he just couldn't think clearly.
"I think the only thing wrong is you're stressing out when this is supposed to be a chance to unwind before the semester starts." Alec felt a muscular arm settle around his shoulders, making him tense up. A little tug from the hand on his shoulder and Alec felt himself melting again, now leaning in against Dylan, he was warmer than Alec expected, though his muscles were nice and firm, he looked up and met Dylan's eyes and to his shock, Dylan leaned in and kissed him.
It wasn't insistent or eager like Jeremy had been, this was a testing kiss, as if Dylan didn't seem sure if this was the right thing to do. It was more like the two just sat there for a moment with their lips together awkwardly. And then Dylan pulled Alec in, he felt his best friend's tongue slipping past his lips as a hand ran through the fur on his stomach and in a repeat of what happened just moments earlier, almost went for his waistband, but stopped.
Except this time Alec didn't want it to stop. He placed his hand on top of Dylan's urging him to continue what he was doing.
