You've heard about this place, but never thought much of it. The stories seemed too bizarre to be true—a company that claimed to turn people into pets, offering them a fresh start with families in need of a loyal companion. At first, you scoffed at the idea. But now, with life going downhill and no one left who is close cares, it didn’t sound so crazy.
You pushed open the doors, stepping into a bright, sterile lobby. The air was warm and smelled faintly of antiseptic. Behind the front desk sat a woman with a kind smile, her eyes betraying the fact that she had seen plenty of people like me come through those doors.
