Next morning Heather woke up to a sound of a phone call and crawled herself to her phone that was ringing on the floor. She wasn't sure who would be at the end of the other line so she cautiously picked up the phone and introduced herself.
"Hi. Is it fine that I'll be there in an hour? I wanted to come check the maintenance for you." A familiar voice spoke.
"Dad...?" Heather asked as the voice sounded like his.
"No? It's your brother Kyle. Do I really sounds like a dad?" The voice continued.
Heather had to think for a while as she wasn't expecting her family to call her. She asked when would her brother be near her house in which her brother replied that he was only an 1-hour drive away from her.
"Yeah. That sounds great. See you soon!" Heather said as she closed to phone.
Heather let out a massive groan as she weren't truly happy that every single person wanted to bother her when she only wanted to party. Even her brother had disturbed her beauty sleep. The clock on the phone displayed a very early morning hours which meant that sun was still in the horizon.
The something clicked inside Heather's brain. She didn't have a brother and weirdly her supposed brother had same name as her father.
"Oh shit!" Heather shouted and quickly run to the chronovac computer.
Heather quickly went to her own profile and saw it with her own eyes. Her father was now her brother and her mother was brother's spouse. It was bizarre to think that Heather's mom would count as her distant relative but as she checked their ages she quickly realized why the chronovac had done this.
As originally Heather was only 12-years-old and Ed's cousin. It would make sense that her parents would be atleast over 30s. She got curious and went to check her father's profile to see how old he was and saw that he was currently 37-years-old. Heather's mother was two years younger than Heather's father.
Maybe all the messing up with aging and time had made chronovac to default into this option as Heather had only changed her own settings. She decided to check on her father profile and make sure that her father wouldn't be able to see the door to the computer room as even a small slight change would cause too many problems for her.
Finally. Heather could relax and enjoy her adulthood in peace.
Heather's brain was slowly adapting itself to the changes in the new adult body and she started to brew some morning coffee to endure her day. It was her first time to drinking it but somehow it felt like she had previously gulped it at least gallon or two.
The taste wasn't as bitter as she was expecting. She decided to wear a t-shirt, regular underwear and leggings as they felt the most comfortable to wear.
As the doorbell rang and Heather went to open the door. The person behind it was truly her brother-father. She had to call him brother even if it felt odd and offered him a cup of coffee as he sa on the living room sofa.
As they both sat down her brother explained that his spouse was going to leave him. Heather had to ask why and the reason was very simple.
She had no reason to stay.
Heather's eyes widened as his brother-father Kyle explained to her that lately his love of his life was doubtful as they lacked something. Kyle continued that he didn't know what she meant by it or was there anything to do to prevent all of this.
Sadly Heather knew that because of her own selfish action his father and mother would soon divorce. Weirdly Heather didn't feel as sad about it as she would had thought she would have felt. Maybe it was because of the new family adjustment or that her body treated this 'thing' as nothing special.
Heather had to think carefully what to do say next as her brother-father kept ranting about the situation.
