Rita is impressed by Leah's potty training. She's not too experienced with kids, but from what she's heard, she expected Leah to be struggling more. But her niece hasn't had a single accident. By the third day, Rita is beginning to wonder if she needs Leah to wear a diaper at all.
On the third day, Rita and Leah are sitting in the living room. Rita is reading a book, Leah is, like a classic teenager, on her phone. After about half an hour of sitting in silence, Rita hears Leah snoring. She looks up. Leah has fallen asleep. Rita shakes her head, amused. A few minutes later, she hears a soft hiss come from the couch where Leah is sitting. She looks over.
Sure enough, Leah's diaper, which is poking out from under her skirt, has turned yellow. But Leah isn't done yet. Before Rita's eyes, the teenager begins to grunt loudly. Leah pulls her knees up to her chest, her face red with effort.
Rita's jaw drops as the smell of feces reaches her. Leah was doing so well! Why did this happen? After a few minutes, Leah sighs in relief. She curls up on the couch, still asleep, unbothered by what must be a very full diaper.
Rita chews her lip. She has to make a decision about what to do now.
