Silvia poked her head in to Jennifer's room, seeing her daughter frozen upon their gazes meeting. Silvia didn't even bat an eye as she produced a plate of room temperature pizza. "Got you a slice kiddo. I'll let you carry on." She said with a wink as she set down the plate on the ground for before closing the door. Jennifer's mind was bungled, maybe it was ok after all. No! Some semblance of reason shouted back at her. In a daze she rolled over to grab the plate with pizza. It was as cold as it was appetizing. With grandma placated she could do with more delicacies like pizza.
Jennifer rubbed her temples, no that's not right, pizza isn't special. Reality was messing with her she had to keep her wits before she didn't have any left.
She made no attempt to clean the mess from her mattress or the floor, given the stains this wasn't the first time it had occurred, and no doubt past Jennifer at least tried. That was it. A lightbulb seemingly lit up inside Jennifer's mind. If she succeeded in going a year in the future now it might be permanent, worse still what her life would become. How many pizza men would she need to help her mom with? She shuddered, only betrayed by the fleeting thoughts of what ifs that caused a sly grin across her face.
She shook her head out of it, no, if she purposely tried to go back, maybe before her mom went down this road she could somehow....somehow, stop it from happening, or at least buy some time to think of something. Jennifer glanced down at her stomach giving it a tender rub. At least hopefully she would start getting too young to have this thing, maybe that was it, after all it did start it.
Jennifer's train of thought was broken a few hours later into the night as yet another "casting agent" came over to hear Silvia's "singing". It wasn't long till the rhythmic dull thumping returned. If Jennifer had any chance of being rude now, this was it. She stretched and rolled to stand up.
