Arnquists base had been under attack for two hours now, and the perimeter had been breached once, but they had been able to push the enemy out. Barely. The Campus Base had come under artillery fire, and some of the wolf creatures had even been seen carrying the rifles of fallen or transformed soldiers. Only one of the firebases remained - Firebase Achilles, and it was doomed to fall at any moment.
Suddenly, the fears of the defending forces had come true - the enemy had once again pushed through the perimeter. This time, there were 3 breaches - two on the north side only 100 meters apart, and the other on the southern side of the campus. Within 2 minutes, the 100 meter line of defense had been destroyed by artillery shells and attackers.
Whom ever had been allowed to rest was now called up to fight, and to use ammunition sparingly. The communications tent was desperately trying to call in reinforcements, artillery fire, an air strike, a pizza, anything that might distract the enemy or aid the human defenders, but there was no such luck.
Instead, the men and women under Arnquists command were forced to retreat and regroup to form a new perimeter, and this was done several times as the soldiers continued to fight and die.
It would seem however, that luck would smile on them, if only for a moment. Achilles was still under friendly control, and was able to shift artillery fire onto the enemy forces that were attacking the campus. Better still, both Achilles and the Campus had broken through to Central Command, and the 5 minute window was more than enough to inform CC of their situations. However, it was impossible to send in more troops due to the weather, and when the window closed, Arnquist received a report that the perimeter was once again being reformed.
It was now that Colonel Arnquist made an important decision:
"All remaining troops are to grab all of the ammo that they can carry, and fall back to the dorms. Retreat into the sewers, and we will link up outside of the campus. From their we'll have to retreat to Firebase Achilles."
The soldiers rapidly retreated, and the Campus was soon in flames...
