Cal kept smacking into Kaira, they were blessed and just knew it. The red robed figures were still drinking and partying in the entire building, music vibrating in their ears and alcohol in the air. Cal and Kiara had sex many times throughout the week. The divine had seen their devotion to true happiness for humanity and taken notice. Each feeling an gift, each change a blessing.
That morning, Eric woke up with a soft smile. His girlfriend was still curled up against him, her arms draped across his arm like she never wanted to let go. He gently shifted away, trying not to wake her as he rolled out of bed. The cool morning air hit him as he quickly got dressed. He slipped into his wide, baggy pants, taking care not to knock anything over in the cramped room. Even though his pants were loose, they still weren't quite loose enough—he always had to be careful with his "precious ratty cargo." After making sure he was fully dressed, Eric headed out, his mind already racing through his plans for the day.
Eric was just a block away from the school when he spotted Cal. For weeks, Eric and Sarah had been trying to dig up any information they could about Cal and their teacher, Kiara, but it was like these two were ghosts. Cal was barely known to them, and he had a talent for staying off the radar.
Today, Cal was wearing oversized, baggy clothes that made him look even more unrecognizable from behind. It would’ve been easy to overlook him if not for the way his phone was sticking out of his back pocket—dangling there carelessly, almost asking to be taken.
Without hesitating, Eric's eyes narrowed, and he saw his chance. In one smooth motion, he swiped the phone from Cal’s pocket without breaking stride. It was like picking candy from a distracted kid. Cal didn’t even flinch, just kept walking, none the wiser. Now, Eric had a new toy to play with. He would browse through Cal’s phone later, looking for anything useful. But for now, all he had to do was blend in and act like nothing had happened.
Later, as he scrolled through the phone, something interesting caught Eric’s eye. He pulled up a folder with a few photos. The first one made him pause. It wasn’t just a random image—it was something odd. There was a picture of a rundown building, half-hidden in shadow. Eric couldn't tell if it was important yet, but it definitely seemed out of place.
The second photo was even stranger. It showed a group of people gathered at what looked like an underground rave, with strange symbols spray-painted on the walls. There was something off about the people in the photo, too—Eric could tell right away that this wasn’t just a normal party. Was this where Cal and Kiara hung out?
Later, during lunch, Eric made his way to the canteen, where Sarah was already sitting at their usual spot. He slid into the seat next to her, flashing her a sly grin.
"You won't believe what I’ve got," he whispered, pulling out Cal’s phone. Sarah’s eyes widened in surprise and curiosity as Eric opened the photo gallery and showed her the pictures.
"What the hell is this?" Sarah asked, her voice barely containing her excitement. She leaned in closer, her eyes glued to the screen. The odd photos had her mind racing with possibilities.
“Why can’t we access the other photo’s?” Eric asked Sarah, knowing she was more tech savvy. “It seems like the photos are hidden behind a lock. I can download them but it will take some time to get them unlocked. We better return the phone to lost and found when I can downloaded them, otherwise Cal might get suspicious.”
