The Four Giggling Girls

The first class and a problem child

added 6 months ago O Magic

Mr. Keyhole arrived at his first class. The room was filled with almost a dozen boys around 9 or 10 years old. Magic was hard to learn for boys and most of them doesn't develop their magic abilities until they're 15 or so. However, Mr. Keyhole was optimistic and was sure he can make these kids to learn at least one spell before the semester ends. He placed his magic suitcase on his desk and presented himself.

"Hi, I'm Mr. Keyhole and I'll be your guide for the next few months. You probably don't know how to use magic yet, but don't worry, I'm teach you the basic at the same time we discover the magic around us." Mr. Keyhole sounds very excited but he can't say the same about the boys in the room. Most of them were looking at their phones, through the window and doing anything else but paying attention to their professor.

Mr. Keyhole didn't like this at all. Magic at modern times was getting so hard to teach because of technology and this was the first time his students didn't seem interested at all on him. "I think we should do something about those phones." He said before he casted a spell that turned the phones into cookies. "Much better. I recommend you to don't eat them unless you want to buy a new phone. Don't worry, I'll turn them back at the end of class."

With the boys' attention partially on him, Mr. Keyhole explained about the magic hidden in everything. How witches and wizard are more common than they think and how important is to preserve the use of magic as a tradition and a way to do things that could be impossible for technology. "Like what?" One of the students defiantly asked him. "I can do almost anything with my phone! I can even play games and watch tons of videos!"

"And those videos, what are about?" Mr. Keyhole asked while he looked at the boy's name in his list. He's Luke, 10 years old, good grades but bad behavior. Mr. Keyhole immediately realized he would be a problem if he didn't do something right now. "I don't know. Superheroes, spies and ninjas. There's so much content that it can't name it all." He cockily smiled. "And what do you think if you could become a superhero or a ninja with magic?"

"I don't care. I don't want to be a superhero. I just enjoy to watch them in my phone." Luke replied like he was trying to sound cool to his friends. "I know there's elemental magic. But what's the purpose of throwing fireballs if there's nothing to fight for? I just want to learn a magic spell that could make me rich and I don't have to worry for work like adults. So, if you know one of those, tell me and I'll leave here by tomorrow."

"Ok, if insist." Mr. Keyhole said while golden magic energy flow around his eyes. "I was expecting to show you some magic until our third or fourth class. But I can make an exception with you, Luke." The other students seemed worried and started to move away from Luke who didn't seem worried at all. "Do you know I'm called a master of transformative magic? I can turn coal into gold in a blink."

"Cool, I want to learn a spell like that!" Luke said with some sarcastic intonation. "Oh no, I was planning something else. Something more... educative for you." Mr. Keyhole golden energy was starting to glow around Luke's feet but he didn't notice it. "It's time to change Luke!!"
