Farmer's Valley is a small midwestern town that, despite the natural boundaries, has land perfect for farming and ranging. a lot of the community and economy is around animal husbandry, pet breeding, and wildlife care. The small town of about 8000 has a wildlife reservation and a community college specializing in agricultural and veterinarian studies. it's the most notable new feature that has stirred trouble is the big-name bio-lab by Gene-co. Trying to get into GMO farming and ranging in the lands around it.
The Bio lab was given a retrovirus that can take the DNA of a human being and change it into that of an infected animal. The animal acts normal and looks normal, but all of its biofluids seem to be able to pass along the virus; once infected, the subject, over time gains flu-like symptoms, cold sweats, and extreme arousal. The changes from human to animal take anywhere from a day or two to a week, depending on the subject's ability to resist their animalistic instincts. It hasn't been "tested" enough to see if the former humans were still intelligent as all have been accidentally exposed that the corp doesn't know about. No one but the higher-ups know if this virus was man-made or found in the melting permafrost, but it can be reverse-engineered, which should make the corp millions.
