"Then let's get to work. This very evening, I wish for my girlfriend's new boyfriend Thomas to become a rat," said Damon in an evil manner and with a wicked smile.
"A rat?" repeated the genie.
She wanted to make sure. The choice was a little surprising but the genie was now blasé at the pettiness of mortals. She had seen the same wishes and intents over and over again across the centuries. Riches and sex, appearances and vanity. Vengeance for petty reasons. Again and again and again. Rarely selfless wishes. But maybe her mean new master would be taught a lesson later on. The genie was in the habit to reward kind masters and ultimately punish those that were too selfish.
"But... What sort of rat?" the genie asked, a little annoyed at Damon's lack of precision.
"Er..." said hesitantly the young man. "Tiny. A rat, but more like a mouse, really. Brown and white. And... And make him my pet, in a little dainty cage! He can keep his human thoughts, but with no human voice. That's my wish! I'll decide if he becomes a female later."
The genie thought it truly was nasty but she snapped her fingers.
And indeed, that evening, poor Thomas turned in a puff of smoke into a little brown and white rat, fumbling out of his clothes, his nose twitching madly. And wondering why everything was so gigantic. Why he sensed nerves behind his butt and why he could hear and smell so powerfully. And he was naked, but covered in fur. With... gigantic testicles. And he could... feel through his moving nose. That did not want to stop moving, with its... moustache. No... Whiskers. In the full-length mirror Thomas saw his new body and yelled in fright. Or rather, squeaked in fright.
Then, in another puff of smoke, he was in a bird cage, with Damon's laughter, his girlfriend’s ex, ring into his ears. In a corner there was a bored woman with exotic clothes. Much to his dismay, Thomas had to admit that he was a rat, in a cage, and the pet of a boy he did not like. And that magic existed. And that he was currently on the wrong side of it.
