"'Fraid I'm fresh outta that stuff," Angie muttered grimly, then continued, "And didn't Cinderella's magic poof away at midnight? Even in fairy tales, magic has a curfew, huh?"
"Well, I won't say there aren't limitations," the godmother nodded thoughtfully. "But nothing lasts forever. Why not enjoy the present?"
"What present?!" Angie spread her arms and shrugged. She wasn't sure why she was still talking to this weird woman who appeared out of nowhere. Maybe she really was too bored. "I spent the best years of my life catering to a rutting pig who ran away as soon as he was offered a bit of tail, and now I'm stuck with two teenagers who would rather have their teeth pulled than be seen with me. I finally get a night to myself and I realize, it's not just to myself, it's by myself," Angie flopped on the couch and looked around glumly. "You think you can magic all that away?"
"It is a difficult situation, I'll admit," the godmother agreed. "But it's not like there aren't options...you must have some idea what you would rather be doing...why not try that for a little while? You might find a little change goes a long way."
"You mean until midnight?" Angie snorted, then sighed. "Look, I appreciate the offer, but I don't see what you can do for me. There's no ball with prince charming waiting for me. Come Monday, I'll be right back where I started, and there's no way out of that."
"Hmm, so why not do this. How about you try something new until Monday?" the godmother suggested. "At least it'll be something different, right?"
"Fine, whatever," Angie lay back on the couch and closed her eyes in frustration.
"Any preferences?" the godmother asked.
"Surprise me," Angie retorted, her eyes still closed.
"As you wish," the godmother smiled gently, then waved her wand. Suddenly, there was a bright flash, which Angie could see even through her closed eyelids. Startled, she sat up and opened her eyes to find she was...
