Leah can't help herself. She bursts into tears, sobbing so loudly it hurts her throat and chest. In the throes of her meltdown, she finds herself sitting on the floor, her mess thoroughly spread all over her butt.
Suddenly, she feels herself lifted into the air.
"All right, little baby, let's get you changed," Rita's voice says sleepily. Leah continues to sob as Rita carries her to the changing table in her room. Once she's laid down on her back, Rita pops a pacifier into Leah's mouth. Leah sucks on it, still crying, but now receiving some form of comfort.
Before she knows it, Leah is in a fresh diaper. Rita doesn't put anything else on Leah, leaving her just in her fluffy protection. Leah expects Rita to tuck her into bed, but instead, she gets carried out of her room and into the kitchen.
Rita putters around, doing something. Leah, focusing on trying to calm down via her pacifier, doesn't pay attention. Until her pacifier is removed and replaced with the nipple of a baby bottle.
Instinctively, Leah sucks. The liquid that fills her mouth is warm and slightly sweet. It's very pleasant. She guzzles it down in record time.
"Good baby," Rita says. She takes the bottle, sets it on the counter, and holds Leah over her shoulder. As she pats Leah's back, Leah spots a container on the counter. She reads it and is horrified. She just drank baby formula!
"Burp for Auntie Rita," Rita says. Realization dawns on Leah. Rita is either not fully awake or fully sleep walking, acting as though Leah is an actual baby! A final pat makes a burp exit Leah's mouth. "Good baby!"
Rita places the pacifier back in Leah's mouth. She sucks on it, exhausted from this entire experience. As Rita is leaving the kitchen with Leah in her arms, Leah falls asleep.
