Lady Leta did more than just make Markyss be a clingy little mama's boy, then have full access to his previous memories at four years. She was the leader of the kingdom, so she needed to show strength. That strength would show best if her first child was a possible heir. But a male child could never be an heir! Males were too temperamental, too driven by anger and inferiority complexes. They were the weaker sex, and as such, only useful for producing children or being married off for diplomatic relations. Markyss could not remain a male to be her firstborn heir, as Lady Leta required.
Of course, Markyss would never inherit the kingdom. Other daughters of Lady Leta could challenge her for the throne, and would win, thanks to Lady Leta establishing the reborn Markyss as a weak wimp.
Nine months after Anytta began her journey as Lady Leta's consort, she went into labor. The labor was peaceful and painless, thanks to extensive midwife magic from the finest Witch midwives in the entire kingdom. After half a day of labor, Anytta finally pushed out her and Lady Leta's first child. The midwife held up the wailing babe. Anytta gasped.
"But- but this is a girl child! Markyss was a boy!"
"I am sorry, my love, but this had to be done," Lady Leta said softly. "Our firstborn must be a possible heir, and only females can be heir in my culture."
"True," Anytta mumbled. Lady Leta kissed her cheek.
"Once you have produced two more daughters for me, we can have a son, okay?"
"All right, my love," Anytta said gleefully.
"While our firstborn is being cleaned up..." Lady Leta exited the room, then returned with a newborn male infant. "Here."
"Uh, what child is that?"
"Our next one. He was once the Head of the Prince's Guard, Gareth. Now, he will be our secondborn daughter," Lady Leta said. Anytta beamed. Lady Leta placed the babe in Anytta's arms, then cast the same spell she had on Markyss. The babe that had once been Gareth disappeared. Anytta rubbed her belly with a coo of delight.
The midwife returned with their newborn daughter. She placed the babe into Lady Leta's arms. Lady Leta smiled down at the child. Once it had been an infant version of Prince Jasper. Now, it was an infant girl that looked like Anytta and Lady Leta. Though slightly more like Anytta. Lady Leta didn't intend on this babe being her heir, so she didn't wish for it to look too much like her. Lady Leta tickled her daughter's belly.
"I was thinking a good name for her might be Maryssa," Lady Leta suggested. Anytta gasped.
"Oh, that is perfect!" she gushed. "Princess Maryssa!"
"Yes, my love." Lady Leta handed Maryssa over to Anytta. Maryssa immediately latched onto Anytta's enormous, milky breast. Lady Leta smiled as she watched her pregnant consort nurse their firstborn. Yes, she wanted revenge against the royal family that wiped out much of her clan. But in seeking revenge, she'd found a life she loved, and true happiness.
And, of course, she'd also gotten her revenge.
