"Could...we watch some old anime?" The suggestion sounded casual, but Leah perked up quite a bit. It seemed this was more of a teen interest, or at the very least an interest she still has as a teen. Tina admittedly knew very little about anime, so she couldn't really point Leah into a more childish direction for it. However, it did give Leah a chance to share something new with her, which could be good for bonding.
"Alright, if that's want you want. Is there anything you had in mind?"
"Maybe. Have you seen much anime, Tina?"
"Eh heh, no. None at all."
"Well, it can be a lot of fun if not childish at times, but less in a toddler sense and more in a 'finding katanas cool' sense, you know."
Tina had absolutely no idea, but nodded anyways.
"Is there something about watching anime that you can only do as a little kid?"
Leah scratched the back of her head awkwardly, looking bashful in a way Tina's not familiar with.
"I guess it's...kind of embarrassing? Like people will judge you for liking it, and you want to jump up and shout at the screen when something cool happens, but you feel silly doing it so you just sit there awkwardly and- you know what, never mind. This is stupid."
That story sounded too specific to not be personal, but Tina wasn't going to pry. What she WILL do, however, is encourage Leah's idea. It sounds like that pesky teenage self consciousness was getting in the way of having fun, and Tina had a trigger just for it. She didn't want to use the trigger that eliminates shame, that would drastically change Leah's perception and behavior. However, she can make Leah get so invested in something that she no longer considers those around her, and ceases to hold back her more impulsive reactions.
"I think it's a great idea. You can show me your favorite anime show through a *slit thin lens* if you want." Tina suggested, deciding to use the trigger right away.
"Are you sure? I mean, it might be-"
"Leah, I said this should be fun, and you wouldn't have suggested it if you weren't interested. I think it's a lovely idea."
"Okay." Leah says uneasily. They sit on the couch and pull up a streaming service, Tina handing Leah the remote.
"So, what do you want to watch?"
