"So Josh, what would happen if say someone drank all of Chad up?"
"That's what I'm planning. Everyone will drink essence of Chad, unless someone gets it poured on them I guess," Josh sounded irritated. Sometimes jocks were just too dense.
"No, I mean, what would happen if one person drank all of liquid Chad?"
"Oh, I see. Would them become Chad's clone or gain his memories or abilities?" Josh replied. Rick nodded. Josh continued, "Nothing would happen except the drinker would have to piss an awful lot," he laughed.
Rick paused, then laughed with him.
"So there really is no way to reconstitute Chad, Josh? I mean, worst case scenario we all piss him down the drain, and the droplets reassemble at the sewage plant and he becomes a Swamp Thing-like monster?" Rick asked.
"Oh, no. No risk of that happening. Even if someone poured all the bottles into a barrel, he would remain energy juice. You would have to add the right potion to make it reconstitute."
"So could the components of the potion be in the sewer?"
"Damn, I better scry to make sure there aren't."
"My uncle works at the sewage plant. If you tell me the ingredients, I can ask if they're in the sewage," Rick offered.
Josh shot a distrustful glance at Rick. He wasn't sure about Rick. Chad had been Rick's buddy, but Rick was always second banana to Chad. With Chad out of the way, Rick could be MVP. Of course, Rick wouldn't have shined as receiver without Chad's long passes. Todd - the backup quarterback couldn't throw half as far. But in baseball, Rick might have outshine Chad on his own. Rick might want to reconstitute Chad, but then again he seemed eager to drink him when he thought the condition was permanent. Josh bit his lip. He could give Rick most of the ingredients but leave out key items and proportions.
"I have to write it down, it's a long list, and I'll have to lookup the scientific names. For example Wool of bat is Ilex folium -or Holly Leaves in the vernacular."
"You mean that eye of newt, wool of bat in Shakespeare- uh the Scottish play- is a real witch spell?"
"Wiccan- not witch. But yes. I think it's an old version of a cold remedy: the robitussin of it's day. And aspirin is just Willowtree extract."
Rick nodded thoughtfully. Whatever Josh told him, he would double check on the internet.
He was still holding the bottle of sports drink that Josh had given him. He set it down on the bench next to the one Josh had set down when he started searching on his phone and writing on a yellow pad.
Josh tore off the yellow sheet and handed a list of ingredients to Rick. The receiver grabbed it, then picked up Josh's bottle, and opened it. He hefted it in the air, and said, "Bottoms up, Josh!"
Josh looked perturbed, but grabbed the remaining bottle and opened it. He licked his lips, and said, "Bottoms up!"
The both drained their bottles.
