Caroline considered the numbers she had been given then, with a sigh, flung the whole handful toward her passenger seat. Some landed amid the empty Starbucks cups on the floor and at least one fell between the passenger seat and center console. She drove off, headed back to her apartment, craving...water.
Arriving at her apartment complex, Caroline left her shoes in the car and walked barefoot to the community pool. The pool was screened by trees and hedges from nearby apartments, but it was closed and locked at night. Caroline gazed longingly at the water and considered climbing the fence, but she decided to check the side gate. Sure enothe lock was faulty and, forced the right way, it popped open. Caroline slipped inside, slipped out of her dress, and slipped into the inviting waters. As Caroline swam, she contaminated the water with the mermaid virus. Everyone who swam in the pool from now on would be infected.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Danny had snuck out of his parents' apartment, not wanting to listen to them argue again. He wandered aimlessly around in the dark. When he spotted the side gate to the pool slightly open he decided to investigate. Maybe he could take a nap on one of the lounge chairs. He was surprised to find a woman swimming in the pool. Danny stood there for a moment in surprise, especially when he noticed the discarded dress on the pool deck. Caroline spotted Danny and swam over to the side of the pool.
"Uh...hi..." Danny said awkwardly. "Nice night for a swim?"
Caroline looked Danny over in the dark as best she could. She had gotten the water she wanted, but now she wanted someone. She smiled. "It is. It would be even nicer if I wasn't swimming alone. Care to join me?"
Danny was caught off guard by the question. "I...uh...are you..."
"Don't worry, I wont bite," promised Caroline, "unless you're into that sort of thing." She climbed the ladder to get out of the pool, throwing her wet hair back and sticking out her chest.
As Caroline stepped onto the pool deck, Danny stared at the naked 20-something, water dripping from her body. Caroline had been in decent shape as of that morning, but the virus had given her a perfect C-cup chest and made the rest of body athletic and firm. Even in the dim light she could see the tent in his loose shorts. She walked up and put her arms around his neck.

Turning on the timer, she gave the water a few moments to began to froth and bubble then strode deliberately past Danny and slowly walked into the water.
