Nothing seemed to change immediately. Jenny didn't feel any different. "I guess we wait," Jeff said. "What did you key in again?"
"You don't remember?" Jenny asked.
"No..." Jeff said, frowning. "Has it happened already?"
"Not yet," she said. "I guess we just go about our business."
Roxy entered the room, heading over to Jeff, clearly looking for affection. "Hey, girl," Jeff said. The golden retriever waited for Jeff to give her some attention. She ignored Jenny. But that was typical. She was Jeff's dog.
Jeff gently stroked Roxy's ears. "If you keep giving her that kind of attention, I'll get jealous," Jenny joked.
"Come on, she's a dog, Jenny. You're my girlfriend. You have nothing to be jealous about," Jeff insisted.
Jenny raised a brow at that. He definitely didn't remember. She'd set his first reminder for two days after the change was complete...then four...the number of days would keep doubling every time he decided to not hit the undo button. If he'd said no repeatedly, by the time next year rolled around, he wouldn't be reminded for another 18 months.
Roxy, meanwhile, looked at Jenny. She didn't know about the Chronovac and wouldn't understand it at the moment. But, the other female was always interrupting her time with her master and convincing him to spend more time away from her. She didn't like Jenny. As the Chronovac got to work..an idea popped into the dog's head. She should do something about that.
