Sylvia, still sleeping on the bed, saw a filmreel of a different house. That house belonged to a 15-year-old girl who was looking at a mirror and the girl's mother. Sylvia felt confused what she was seeing. All of the snippets of the movie seemed to be memories of the girl who repeated a very familiar routine as she was right now. Eating, sleeping and sometimes watching her surroundings. Sylvia thought that this had to be a vision from her guardian angel to follow the girl's footsteps and start to investigate the rooms. Maybe getting older wasn't as smooth sailing as Sylvia had first thought.
Some parts of the dream she noticed that the girl's mother was acting in oddly manner. Sharing the same confusion that she was. The mother wasn't normal at all. Sylvia's dreams were cut short as the filmreel's alarm clock woke her up. Something weird was going on as Sylvia shook her head. Remembering almost every part of her dream until that alarm clock sound. She didn't get to see what had happened to the girl but Sylvia felt that it had to do something with her family's curse.
This unknown and unnamed girl had made her curious but so did the room. It looked just a hint different than yesterday. Without the dream she would have ignored the changes but was sure that there was something fishy going on. Mary's wardrobe was more darker and black and white in tone and she had a lots of different fashion magazines next to her bed. Sylvia had now successfully grown two years older but something wasn't adding up. Her decade older mom never cared about fashion and they never talked with their grandma either. She remembers living with her mother together and... and... that's about it. It was a simple life where her mother took care of her alone inside a small wooden hut in middle of... somewhere. Sylvia had no real idea where they even lived as her mother never let her go outside of the small room. Somehow living with Tress felt better, like a small safe haven, compared how they used to live.
Maybe the question at the park had changed the future. Sylvia still had that small dredge in her heart of the 'what if' that could happen at any moment. Like yes, technically they were getting older, but Sylvia herself didn't act like this previously. She was thinking more like an adult than a kid. Something had changed inside her. But what was it? Even she didn't know. Sylvia was still missing large puzzle pieces from the big picture. Maybe every leap forward helped her to see what was going on with everything.
She was determined to solve what was causing all this in first place.
First things first. The room. It wasn't much cleaner than yesterday but was way cleaner than what she remembered from her own past. Sylvia inspected the whole room and noticed that bedroom had a weird smell coming from the floor. She couldn't recognize it but it smelled weird as she put her nose to it. Like a wet towel mixed with something. The beds looked too normal as in they were same size like two leaps ago which meant that Sylvia's bed wasn't getting bigger and at some point would be too small for her. These had to be red flags that something was not right.
Sylvia took a whiff from her mother's bed and found the similar smell from it. That wet towel smell. She didn't know what it was but it was way stronger smell on Mary's sheets. The similar kind of smokey scent was lingering on Mary's pillow as she kept sniffing the bed. She took a mental note about these small details and checked if there was something else changing as they grew older.
While running around the room. Sylvia heard the room's door creaking.
