swaping back at the end of the week... kind off

### Chapter: Meet Kyle

It was finally Sunday, and Sam had been anticipating this day all week. Kenith—or Trevor, as he technically was right now—had promised he’d swap back with his best friend today, and as the door creaked open that evening, Sam prepared himself for anything. After all, with the *Chronicle* app in play, nothing was ever straightforward when it came to Kenith.

But what walked through the door still managed to surprise him.

Gone was the Kenith he had grown up with, the lean, athletic little brother with a sharp, enhanced edge to everything about him. Instead, standing in front of Sam was someone... different. His new little brother looked like a skater kid straight out of a magazine—messy blond hair falling just over his ears, a baggy, oversized T-shirt with a cool graphic print, and sneakers that looked more worn for style than sports. He was smaller, shorter, and skinnier than the Kenith Sam was used to. And yet, something about him still worked—he exuded an effortless charm, the kind that made you think he was exactly who he wanted to be.

Sam blinked, taking in the sight of his brother’s new form. “What the... Kenith?” he asked, his voice trailing off. “What did you do this time?”

Kenith, grinning, held out his arms and did a slow spin, showing off his new look. “Do you like it?” he asked, his voice lighter, a little younger-sounding now. “I think it suits me better.”

Sam just stared, his brows furrowed in confusion. “Wait, hold on. You swapped back with Trevor, right? This isn’t still Trevor’s body, is it?”

Kenith laughed, shaking his head. “Nah, I swapped back. But I made a few... changes.” He tugged at the hem of his baggy shirt and gestured to his now thinner, lighter frame. “I wanted something new. Something more normal, you know? No more perfect muscles, no more enhanced everything. I thought I’d try a body that’s just... me. But better.”

Sam folded his arms, raising an eyebrow. “Better? You look like a skater kid who got lost on his way to the park.”

Kenith smirked, clearly unfazed. “Exactly. Cool, right?”

Sam sighed, already feeling a headache coming on. “Okay, but why?”

Kenith paused, his grin softening into a more thoughtful expression. “I guess... I just wanted to feel normal for a change. When I was Trevor for the weekend, it felt good, you know? Being a regular kid, no enhancements, no expectations to be the best at everything. I liked that. So, I took some of that and made it my own.”

Sam tilted his head, still processing everything. “So, you just... decided to reinvent yourself?”

“Pretty much,” Kenith said with a shrug. “Oh, and by the way...” He hesitated for a moment, then smiled up at Sam. “I’m not going by Kenith anymore. Call me Kyle.”

Sam blinked, caught off guard. “Kyle?”

“Yeah,” Kenith—no, *Kyle*—said confidently. “Kenith feels... old. Like the me that was all about perfection and tweaking everything. I wanted something fresh. Something that fit who I am now.”

Sam ran a hand through his hair, trying to wrap his head around it. “So let me get this straight. You changed your body to look more like a skater kid, you got rid of all your muscles, and now you’re calling yourself Kyle?”

“Exactly!” Kyle said, his grin widening. “I even kept my reasoning speed and mental enhancements so I’m still sharp. But everything else? All natural. Just like Trevor’s body. Well, mostly.”

Sam stared at his little brother, now smaller, cuter, and somehow even more confident than before. “You know this is completely insane, right?”

Kyle laughed. “Yeah, but come on, it works, doesn’t it? I look more like a ten-year-old now. And hey, this skater vibe suits me.”

Sam sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You’re exhausting, you know that?”

“Maybe,” Kyle said, shrugging. “But you love me.”

Sam couldn’t help but smile at that. As crazy as Kyle’s transformations were, he was still the same kid deep down. And honestly, the new name and look... it kind of suited him. Sam reached out and pulled his little brother into a hug, ruffling his messy blond hair. “Alright, fine. Kyle it is. But you owe me for putting up with all this.”

Kyle laughed, hugging his big brother back. “Deal.”

As they pulled apart, Sam gave him another once-over, still marveling at how different Kyle looked. “You know, I think I actually like this look,” he admitted. “It’s definitely more... you. But in a different way.”

“Thanks,” Kyle said, beaming. “I think it’s gonna stick.”

Sam nodded, his mind already racing with thoughts about how he’d explain Kyle’s new look to their parents—or to Emily, who was bound to fawn over the “new and improved” version of his little brother. But for now, he decided to just roll with it.

“Alright, Kyle,” Sam said, slinging an arm over his little brother’s shoulders. “Let’s grab something to eat. I need a break after all this.”

Kyle grinned, leaning into the gesture. “Race you to the kitchen?”

Sam laughed, shaking his head. “You’re on.”

And as the two brothers took off down the hall, laughing and teasing each other, Sam realized something important. No matter how much Kyle changed—his name, his body, his style—he was still his little brother. And that was something Sam would always cherish, no matter how crazy things got.
