“Live, Laugh, Love.”
That was on a sign by the front door of a simple two-bedroom apartment located in the suburbs just outside of a major city. It almost looked like a stereotypical apartment that young couples just out of university would live in.
There was a small kitchen which was attached to the living room which had a coach and a love seat facing a flat screen TV on a stand that somehow made it out of university in ok shape. A gaming system sat on the stand along with some DVDs and some other media.
Down the hall sat the two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
One of the bedrooms had been converted into a home office with a desk, chair and a large filing cabinet. The laptop sat there waiting to be used.
The 1st bathroom was located just off the hallway and was your standard bathroom. It had a standing only shower which was a plus but nothing else really of note.
The master bedroom was the largest with a small balcony located off it which gave a lovely view of the parking lot a couple floors down but nothing else. The full-size bed took up most of the room. Off the bedroom was a walk-in closet and a larger master bedroom with a full shower and bathtub.
Currently bending over the toilet was a young woman in her mid-20’s. Her dirty blonde hair a mess as she looked like she had been through the ringer. Sweat ran down her body even as she shivered a bit.
“Feeling better?” asked her new husband of only about two weeks.
“Are you?” inquired Lindsay back as she flushed the toilet and walked back to the bedroom. Her husband also in his mid-20’s like her, looked just as beat.
“I at least kept breakfast down.” Answered Luke before coughing hard enough that he felt like he was about ready to run to the bathroom himself. “Somehow.”
“Must be food poisoning if we both got it.” Added Lindsay “I started to feel in on our flight home from our honeymoon.”
“Same, so either something at the airport or that last meal at our resort.” Said Luke “Good thing we don’t have to go back to work until Monday.”
“Yes.” Said Lindsay as she looked at the calendar, it was Saturday morning so they had today and tomorrow to hopefully feel better. “Last thing we need to use is more time off because of some food poising.”
“Well they say sleep is the best cure.” Offered Luke as he moved aside and let his new wife climb in beside him. “I promise I won’t bite.”
“Ah…too bad I am not in the mood or else I would be disappointed in that.” Laughed Lindsay.
Both of them unaware they had been infected not with food poisoning but the furry virus and soon they would leave humanity behind.
