Jeff drove home, but stopped at his neighbor’s house. He knocked on the door and asked if he could borrow their smoker to smoke some meat. The neighbors agreed and Jeff hung all the chunks of meat in the cooler in the large chamber of the smoker. All the while in a haze as he tried not to think about what he was pulling out of the cooler His neighbor asked what he’s smoking, and Jeff told him it’s the meat he got from the hunting lodge. Not a complete lie, but enough truth that Jeff could say it with a straight face.
Jeff let the meat barbeque all night, and in the morning, he loaded all of it into pans and into his car. He showed up to class with several trays of barbequed meat, and laid them all in the front of the room for them to grab plates of during homeroom.
As his class chowed down on the meat, they admired how good it tasted. They described her as soft and chewy, and rich in flavor. The smell of smoked Jenny was something Jeff was disturbed to enjoy, and made him worried that it would disturb others if they knew what they were eating. Thus, he pulled out his laptop.
He pulled up the Emotion Swap Package, and on both sides, typed ‘Class’. Then in the left box typed ‘Eating Jenny’, and in the right box typed ‘Eating Venison’, and pressed swap. Now, no one in his class would question the morality of what they were doing.
“Hey everybody, what you’re eating right now is actually Jenny. I cooked her last night!” As he said those words, his voice almost cracked. He had to sit down. If he didn’t, he was going to puke. Some of his classmates reacted with laughter, some were more shocked. Others said they never thought they would taste Jenny, but were surprised she tasted so good.
Some very morbid jokes came after that. Jeff could barely tolerate what they are saying. Something about how Jeff used to eat Jenny all the time, now everyone gets to eat her. It made his head spin and his nausea got worse. Darren asked Jeff to have some too, but Jeff’s stomach hurt too much for him to eat anything.
Jeff wanted to puke. He really just fed Jenny to their classmates. It felt so gross. He looked at his hands and still felt the tightness of her neck in his hands. He could still feel the lifelessness of her body when he checked to see if she was still alive. The compartment within his brain was finally opening up to what he did. And the guilt was finally wrapping its way around his mind.
