Twenty minutes had passed and someone was pushing it's keys to the front door's lock. Somehow, like a miracle, Mary stepped inside the house with two plastic bags full of food. She looked normal with normal t-shirt and mom jeans. She looked more energetic than before. Mary murmured and shunned her own daughter as she saw Jennifer and Lukas lying on top of the cloth pile. Mary told Jennifer and Lukas how she brought them new clothes to wear and Jennifer a special bag of goodies for tomorrow's school day. Mary walked to the kitchen and begun to dump the plastic bags contents inside the fridge filling it with tasty looking food. Then like a second miracle Jennifer and Lukas received a slices of pizzas and cans of sodas which were bought from the local mall. Jennifer and Lukas both begun to munch the delicious pepperoni pizza as Mary asked where Sylvia was. Jennifer explained that she already left the house while Jennifer believed that Mary had gone away and abadoned them.
Mary looked displeased as she knew what kind of a girl she was. Mary explained that she had told Sylvia to explain that she would come and help Jennifer with her babysitting role. Mary asked how Jennifer was feeling as she gave her a bottle of water to drink from. Jennifer replied that she was feeling fine but a bit exhausted. Mary could only nod as it was clear that she had experienced once before. She then asked Lukas how was she doing as the 3-year-old child was ecstatic for the small slice she had gotten. Jennifer wanted to ask from her grandma why did she move away. Mary found it puzzling that Sylvia didn't bother to explain that either.
Mary told Jennifer that she was living nearby in a smaller apartment which was near at her new workplace. Mary's previous oddjobs and self-employment as a service provider wasn't paying well because of an unexplained reason that Mary didn't specify. Grandma was energetic worker at her new place and earned steadier income with less spending money. Or this is how Jennifer understood it. Mary also explained to Jennifer that she really wanted to take her and Lukas with them to the new apartment where she could properly raise them but her daugter Sylvia was adamant that she can handle her own children. Mary expressed her disappointment for how Sylvia acted too rudely to everyone and most of the blame for her attitude problem were under Mary's shoulders as she didn't do anything to stop it. Thinking that Jennifer would grow differently but it seemed her grand-daughter was following her daughters footsteps. Mary smiled and switched the topic to something else by asking if Jennifer and Lukas wanted to eat grandma's special dish. To which Lukas expressed his joy to eat more after he had devoured the pizza slice.
Jennifer was happy for her grandma and her current situation. Sighing in relief that there was still someone protecting them even if she wasn't living with them. It wasn't much but it was something. Jennifer was still worried about her own mother who wasn't acting normally or was she the one who wasn't acting normal. Jennifer looked at Lukas who enjoyed the life's little things. Maybe Jennifer's adult brain was affecting her younger selves actions and mannerisms which made Sylvia to act strangely. Maybe Sylvia was provoking her for a reason since a kid of her age shouldn't act like the way she did. Always thinking and daydreaming, and not enjoying the presense. Even the children in the school bus acted more 'active'.
Grandma asked from Jennifer if she wanted to eat at her own bed since it was maybe hard for her to move. Jennifer replied back that if she could she would. Mary presented her a plate of boiled sausages, fried eggs and mashed potatoes. A very simple dish but which made Jennifer to cry as she hadn't anything like this is days. Grandma just laughed as she had never seen Jennifer reacting like that to her cooking. With tears of joy salting the dish. Jennifer felt something. A warm food with a hint of love put inside it. It seemed that Mary had taken it differently as she was talking about the hormones and sudden mood swings. Mary was happy that Jennifer enjoyed her food as the whole plate was empty. Jennifer, with a belly full of food, went to a food coma and took a quick nap.
