A Game of Change

Speckles finds out about the Dam's core ability - Big Birtha

added by Krentol 5 months ago A TG O Bovine

Speckles clicked finish on the stats page, then confirmed that yes, this was the stat allocation that she wanted. Which wasn’t to say that this was the stat allocation that she wanted at all. With 5 intellect she… well she’d deal with that when she got there. All Speckles could hope was that people were impressed by how intelligent of a cow she was and cut her a break.

Confirming her stats caused a new window to pop up, “Skills”.

1 – Summon Bull. Summons a bull for 24 hours. The bull will obey most of your commands and has access to enhanced versions of some of your abilities. This bull gains level when you do.

2 – Cow Rush/Bull Rush. (Cow) Lumber forward, dealing minor blunt damage to the first enemy you encounter, knocking them back if they have less Str + Con than you do. (Bull) Charge forward, dealing heavy gore damage and trampling all enemies in a straight line. Trampled enemies have a high chance to be knocked back and stunned.

Well, those first two abilities seemed fairly straightforward. Speckles could summon a bull as a sort of combat pet and she had a weak combat ability to use if an enemy got too close. Moving on…

3 – (Passive) Maddening Heat. When not pregnant, the Dam enters into a maddening heat. The Dam’s body produces enhanced pheromones that can be sensed by bulls within a 1 mile radius, attracting them to the Dam and driving them into a rut.

What? What the hell? What the hell is that passive? She was going to go into heat and… enhanced pheromones? Did that mean?

A new box popped up, “CHOOSE AN ABILITY”

4 – (Passive) Big Birtha. Enhanced gestation rate and birth weight. All calves will be born bulls and rapidly age, becoming full fledged members of the herd within a few days.

4 – (Passive) Double or Nothing. All calves will be born cows and the Dam will also give birth to twins. Calves can be sold for double the market price of a fully grown cow.

A two-minute timer started ticking down as Speckle’s heart began palpitating. This was… this was not what she wanted. She’d been trying to avoid a pregnancy based class by avoiding Milker only to pick a class whose entire skillset revolved around it. God, she should have known what the class description meant when it said she was growing a heard. She wouldn’t be using magic to summon it, she would be giving birth to it.

1 minute.

There wasn’t… what should she do? She couldn’t risk what happened if that timer ran out, which meant that she had to pick. Both options sounded unpleasant, though Double or Nothing sounded more so.

Speckles began hyperventilating.

“Calm down Speckles,” she told herself, “just… did I just call myself Speckles? Yes, but, just calm down and think about this rationally. You’re going to be stuck like this for a while. You’re in a fantasy role playing game. You’re currently solo. You need to have combat potential to avoid being turned into something worse. Double or Nothing is a crafting build? Maybe an econ build? It’s not useful for combat. If you want to survive you need to go Big Birtha.”

10 seconds.

Speckles closed her eyes and sighed. She had no choice. She had to survive long enough to figure out a way to turn back. With a heart that was heavy in both the literal and figurative sense, she selected Big Birtha.
