A new day dawned and the stallion pony got to his feet. The sun was bright orange but Jared's equine sight saw bright gray. As he stirred, Mr. Morrison came into the stable. His face sad for the loss of Jennifer the day before.
Mr. Morrison went to each stall and quietly walked the resident to the waiting green pasture. He approached Jared the word sad was in a face normally happy with hope. "Morning young stud," came the greating. A greating which gave Jared's equine self a bit of pride on a job well done, and pleasure filled.
The farm owner looked the stallion over before leeding him to the pasture for breakfast and a cold drink. Stopping before he opened the gate Mr. Morrison looked the stallion in the face. "Suppose you should have a name better than Stud? Hmmm, Ahhhh, Yup, a boyfriend of my Jennifer disappeared two days ago. Well in his memory we will name you Jared."
As he opened the gate he remembered the word 'help' scrawled in the dirt floor of the barn just the day before. Then rational thoughts, "Hey he disappeared the same day a prize American Shetland stallion show's up on my farm? If I believed in magic as Jennifer I would ask if you were that kid? Oh I don't believe in such things and it is not right to think about such in a Christian home. In you go Jared the new stud!"
Jared happy to keep his name, turned around and faced the man. A pony hoof lifted and reaching forward squarwled 'Thanks' in the sand.
Mr. Morrison looked at the word and all went black.
As a scared stallion reared and whinnied the farm owner regained his countiousness.
On hands and knees he looked through the fence boards and up at the nervious stallion. "I dare you to write my name, said the farm owner in a shaken voice."
