As Jeff, now his brother Henry’s pet snake “Kain”, drifts off to sleep, Henry stays knelt in front of the large terrarium, looking at the snake with a big smile on his face, “best present Jeff ever gave me,” the 12-year-old whispers, “becoming my pet snake for two weeks, I’ll be always thankful to him for that”.
Henry sits in front of the terrarium for a few minutes, deep in thought as he looks at the 24 inch snake, curled up and fast asleep, behind the glass. “I still can’t believe that this snake has been my brother Jeff a few moments ago,” the boy mumbles to himself, “that program is so cool, but also pretty scary. If it is able to transform a human into an animal… what else is it capable of?”
The boy turns his head, looking out his door towards Jeff’s room, the young boy feels a weird mixture of feelings: curiosity and fear, but the longer he thinks about the program the more curious he becomes.
Henry turns back to look at his brother-turned-snake, “Jeff… I mean “Kain” would be mad if I’d mess with the program on his computer,” he mumbles to himself, “but… what if I copy it over onto my phone and create an independent app? I could try stuff out, without messing up Jeff’s program, and it might be good to have a handheld Chronivac, in case something were to go wrong with Jeff’s transformation”.
The boy nods his head, getting to his feet, “let’s copy the program onto my phone,” he says, grabbing his phone and cable, then heads to Jeff’s room, “Jeff doesn’t need to know,” he says as he attaches his phone to Jeff’s computer and begins to copy the program over.
A message appears, asking Henry if he wishes the copy to be connected to the original or if it should be independent, Henry, of course, selects the independent option, next he is asked if all scanned files should be copied over too. The boy shrugs, “why not,” he asks himself, “I wouldn’t have to scan myself and Jeff a second time,” so he confirms the copying of the files, and soon he has his own Chronivac, the boy smiles, “I can’t wait to try it out,” he says, heading back into his room and sitting down on his bed, looking over at the terrarium where his “pet” is still fast asleep.
“While Je… Kain is still resting, I could try some more stuff out with the app,” the 12-year-old says, a feeling of excitement, but also hesitation, growing in him, “I dunno if I wanna try it on myself… what if something goes wrong and I end up stuck? Maybe… maybe I could either call a friend of Jeff’s or a friend of mine over and either test it out on them without them knowing, or ask them if they’d volunteer. I could also head out, maybe test it on some neighbor’s kid, or a neighbor… maybe I could head to the zoo, carnival or beach and test it out there, OR I could head to that abandoned mansion which is located on the hill overlooking the town and surrounded by forest and test it on some old statue”.
Henry groans, having a hard time to decide what to do, “damn… what would the best solution be,” he asks himself, “I really don’t want to cause any harm or damage that I’d regret later”.
