You decide to approach Lukas. He seems like the safest choice—nervous people are usually less likely to notice strange details, right?
Gripping your hot chocolate, you stand and walk over to his table. His eyes dart up as you approach, his fingers freezing mid-fidget with his phone.
“Hi,” you say, offering a friendly smile. “You looked kind of… tense. Everything okay?”
For a moment, he just stares at you, clearly caught off guard. Then his expression softens into a small, awkward smile. “Oh, uh, yeah. I’m just waiting for someone. They’re late.”
His gaze lingers for a moment, as if he’s trying to place you. “Are you here by yourself? Kind of young to be hanging out at a cafe alone.”
You blink, momentarily thrown off. The app really did its job—he clearly sees you as a 14-year-old.
“Yeah,” you reply, deciding to lean into the role. “I come here sometimes to work on school stuff. It’s quieter than home.”
He nods, his posture relaxing slightly. “Makes sense. I used to do the same thing when I was your age. What grade are you in?”
Your mind races. Should you keep playing along, or steer the conversation to test his perception further?
