Transform or Dare?

The Ultimate Game of Tag

added by Anonymous 4 months ago O

"I choose both. Humor me." Jennifer put on a brave face as she felt scared.

"All right then. For your transformation Jennifer Smith I want us to play a game of tag. Rules are simple." Kyle begun his sentence. "You need to find and catch me."

"Now if you can't or you are unable to find and catch me until the midnight. I can give you a feature, transformation or similar type of modification either by a call or a text message from an anonymous number after midnight. The fun part being that other people view that new transformation as normal part of you. Like as if you've always had. Even when that transformation is something extravagant that shouldn't be possible. Only you and I are able to see what's changed and all the previous changes that you've accumulated." Kyle explained in great detail and continued.

"I can also revoke my transformation privilege by not calling or texting you in 24 hours after you've failed to find me. Understanding me so far?" Kyle asked from Jennifer who sat on top of her bed trying to take notes on a piece of paper. Listening carefully and writing down the smallest details.

"How the game ends is also simple. You have three options. First, when you find and catch me you need to clearly shout either 'It' or 'Tag, you're It' and touch me. Pretty straight forward. Second way to end the game is that if I forget or choose not to transform you three times. Then you can call me 'It' or 'Tag, you're It' on the phone by either text or when I give you a call. The last way to end the game being that if either one of us can't physically or mentally continue the game anymore. The game ends right there. Giving up or forfeiting doesn't count." Kyle laughed on the other end of the phone.

"That doesn't sound so bad. I just have to use the internet and then..." Jennifer begun scroll her phone.

"Not so fast my dear Jennie. I have my dare left. And for that, Jennifer Smith, I want you to forget that I ever called you. It's like we've never met or talked to each other. You still remember the game, it's rules and that you have to find someone to end it. Additionally, you get five tries per day. After you've reached the limit you can't say the 'magic words' to anyone. I give you ability to say the words outside of the game's context but other than that. I wish you happy hunting." Kyle giggled and closed the call.

Suddenly Kyle's name and his voice was disappearing from Jennifer's mind. Only remembering the game's rules that he had just laid and notes she had made. Jennifer had no idea who had called her anymore as his name was erased from the paper she had in her hand. Was it a boy, a girl, a classmate, a man or a woman? The mystery person had cursed her and she needed to find them soon as possible. There was no leads who they were. So it was basically a random shot in the dark. Glendale was an average sized town with too many people. The person could have been anyone of them. She had to start somewhere before it was too late.
