Your mouse hangs over the pair of mermaid/merman tails you where about to order for you and your girlfriend when something caught your eye. You click on the item and begin to read and as you read a smile grew wider and wider.
“Kim!” you yelled toward the living room where your girlfriend was unpacking some items.
“What?” she inquired as she walked in. You tried not to check her out but it was hard, her reddish brown hair went down to the small of her back was tied back in her normal ponytail. She wore a simple white tank top which hugged her in all the right ways and a pair of simple blue jeans. It was simple yet sexy.
“I know you wanted a mermaid tail but how about this?” you inquire as you handed her the laptop. She began to scan the item. “For our housewarming party in a few weeks with our friends?”
Kim’s smile grew wide, as she reached over and clicked the order.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” You laugh as you finished paying for it and putting in the shipping information, making sure to type in your new address.
A couple of weeks later everything was in place, the weather was perfect for a pool party/housewarming party. You and your girlfriend had already had a party for your family and hers, talk of the house was primary but a lot of both your aunts and uncles where joking or maybe not so joking ask when would they learn about an engagement. One of your aunts was even so forthcoming as to say outload if you where planning to drop on one knee and propose during this party. That wasn’t the case, your girlfriend was more of a private person and she wouldn’t be happy with that.
That party was more formal, now this was going to be a fun party more in line with some of your parties from college that you left a couple of years ago.
“I got the beer in the cooler and grill is ready to go.” You yell from the small cooking area beside the pool.
“Good, got the food set up inside.” Yelled Kim back as she walked out in a red bikini top and a pair of jean shorts. “Got the tails out?”
“Already set up.” You answered pointing to a table where multiple simple mermaid/merman tails lied there ready for their guests to grab. They where simple stock colors, reds, greens, blues, oranges, yellows, pink and the like but they were universal size. “The order form said these are tests to bring our your real mermaid or merman self later and one size fits all.”
“Not sure how that last part is true.” Said Kim as she looked at the tails grabbing one she was amazed at how stretchy it was. “Wow…what are these things made up?”
“Don’t know, it’s almost magical how much they stretch.” You laugh “Everyone should be arriving soon, and I got one a tail for everyone, even three extra if someone rips their tail or we have extra people show up.”
“Good.” Laughed Kim as she kissed your cheek. “Ready for a great day.”
“I sure am.” You answer unaware of what was about to happen and the real reason why those tails where “magical”.
The party began and it was a blast, talking with old college friends and playing drinking games and enjoying the pool. Everyone was having a great time and everyone seemed to be enjoying the mermaid/merman tails.
It was funny watching people swim or attempt to swim in them, and it really was a one size fits because the same tail fit the largest of yours and Kim’s friends as well as the smallest. It was really a great time.
However, it all had to come to an end, as night was falling the 1st people had to leave.
“Come on, one group photo before you all leave.” Laughed Kim
“Sure.” Said the person about to leave.
“Lets do it with our tails on sitting along the pool.” Said a woman with a laugh and Kim latched onto it as she quickly got everyone along the pool and using a tripod mount for her camera she set it up to take multiple photos of everyone in their tails sitting on the pools edge
“To friendship!” yelled Kim as everyone smiled and hugged as the phone took multiple photos.
Just as the last one finished a blinding flash of light happened within the pool along with a sound almost like an industrial vacuum cleaner.
“What the?” you and others yelled as you found yourself yanked into the water and into a vortex which sent you and everyone else down and down, far deeper then your pool could possible go.
You black out as your land on soft sand surrounded by your and your girlfriend’s friends unaware that you and everyone else where about to leave humanity behind and you would all learn how to swim with a tail much better really soon.
