Lina couldn't quite believe it. Her friend Amy had bought diapers. Actual diapers! It bordered on the really humiliating. No, cringe, actually. And Amy knew it because she made sure to carry the diapers in a brown paper bag offered by the store, a nondescript paper bag with the diaper box turned so no picture or inscription could give away what Amy was bringing home. Not that Lina complained. Being seen next to this thing was NOT on her list of priorities. Luckily, both girls made it to Amy's home with no encounters with anyone they knew. Even better, the home was empty, Amy's parents and little brother being gone. Amy went up to her room and decided to try one the diapers at once. Lina refrained from sighing. She thought her friend would look plain ridiculous. But as Amy opened the box, she let out an unexpected cry of surprise.
"What is it?" asked Lina.
"The diapers! They have weird cartoon characters on them! Look!"
Puzzled, Lina approached and she saw that indeed her friend was right. Each diaper had a cartoon character of a different imaginary creature. A creature that was very girly. What an odd thing to have printed... There was a baby princess, a baby female imp, a baby mermaid, a baby sphinx, a baby fairy, a baby elf, a baby nymph, a baby faun,...
"Cool! And they DO look comfy! Here, I'll try one on! I am sure you'll like to do the same afterwards!" exclaimed Lina.
Without waiting, she seized one diaper, turned around and started undressing. Lina watched her, a bit confused. She would have stopped her friend, though, if she had known that these diapers were magical. Any girl putting them on would be transformed into the cartoon character they bore, albeit some physical details matching the wearer. Then, a being of magic would pick her up and bring her to the Goblin Market, where they would be put on auction or sold. All to be adopted and become pets or children for fantasy creatures living in their own world. And it was already too late for Amy...
