The two former humans were worried, and their worries increased as time ticked by. How much time? They could not tell after a while. Watching the other former human beings beyond the glass got old fast and the sorcerer did not return. Hopefully it was because the crew was giving him a hard time and figuring out how to rescue Damon and Ramon. The two toads merely sat around or ambled about, attempting to forget how disturbingly nice the squishy warm mud felt and how soothing it was to be in such a humid environment. And how reassuring it felt to have moist skin and how the prospect of being in a very dry place, with no rain or fog, suddenly felt like their worst fear. More than it should, in fact.
But as time went on, these strange worries started overshadowing their human concerns for a crew and their immediate future. The notion of "now" started being the only that existed. Ramon felt hungry and started gulping the dead flies in a bowl. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It felt very good and Ramon attempted thinking about other foods that might have tasted as good but he couldn't think about it precisely. Perhaps worms and slugs and wood lice. Yes, that must be it. What else could it be? As for Prince Damon, after splashing in the mud and water to feel better, he felt bored. Eating to pass time was out of the question now, an animal eating when it is hungry, not simply bored, the next thing he did as a human to have fun and ward off boredom was sex. So as a pure reflex, he jumped on his former friend and grasped him to hump him. Both were males, but as the bigger toad, Damon just listened to his instincts and Ramon took it as a disagreement he should just wait for to pass. As a toad, he did not struggle after the initial attack which took him by surprise. After a while, Damon was done and went back to resting in the dirt. Both had nothing to think about what had just happened. The terrarium was a good place to live and for them, what else could matter?
