Circe saw the next morning that Damon had adjusted fine to his new lion life. He had integrated a pride and he would be all right, as long as he did not try coupling with a lioness. He might hunt a bot, but eventually a female might become attracted to him and they would leave to start their own pride and family. He simply had to lie low in front of the dominant male. Damon was smaller than the other lions for now. If he was smart, he would remain in his place. If he desired challenging the dominant male, he still had a lot of growing and fighting to do. Though Circe had removed the instinct of her male lions to kill the babies that were not hers. She thought it too cruel. But Damon might lose his human mind. Or not. She had left it to chance at this point. She hoped he would have a better life than he had had before as a human. He would not miss much. Human comforts would pale in front of the annoying human concerns. So Circe felt good, exactly as when she felt she had done a good deed.
A few days later, the sorceress was preparing potions when a little lizard, which she knew well, scrambled upon her humongous table. It garbled to her that a bluebird had told him that a visitor was coming this way. Circe understood the speech of animals perfectly. She was thus prepared when the guest arrived. It was a very late teenager. A young woman, but a common mortal that was glued to her cell phone. She was wearing lots of make-up and was clearly very conscious of her looks and clothes. The girl asked Circe why there was no network and when Circe said it was better to enjoy nature and intellectual pursuit, the bratty youngster laughed at her. Circe asked her simply what she wanted to do instead, or what was important to her. The girl said she just enjoyed expensive make-up and that she very much wanted to be an influencer. She asked Circe what skin care she used and when Circe mentioned ancient tried-and-true recipes and admitted that she did not know what "Sephora" was, the girl slapped her forehead as if Circe was a fool for not understanding her. This girl was overly consumed with what she looked like and so when Circe forced herself to ask neutrally what this girl wanted most in the world, she was very much unsurprised to hear the girl affirm at once that she wished to be the fairest and the most popular.
"That is only what you deserve," smiled the sorceress as she transformed the mean girl at once.
